Sumsel United Plans 3 Friendly Matches During Training in Yogyakarta, After Training in Brunei Darussalam

Shiro Copr– After a week of training in Brunei Darussalam, the Sumsel United team continued their Training Center (TC) program to Java Island.

Sumsel United, under the guidance of Nil Maizar, has planned a training camp in Yogyakarta city to warm up the machine ahead of facing the Pegadaian Championship League 2025/26 competition.

In addition to holding joint training sessions to sharpen their chemistry, Hapit Ibrahim and his teammates are scheduled to play 3 friendly matches against other teams competing in the Indonesia League 2.

"We plan to have three friendly matches later, facing PSS Sleman, then Kendal Tornado FC, and finally a match against Persipura Jayapura," said Nilmaizar, the coach of Sumsel United, after a training session at Yogyakarta Independen School (YIS), on Wednesday (6/8/2025).

The coach of Minangkabau descent stated that this training session in Yogyakarta will also be an opportunity to further refine the tactics and strategies of Sumsel United team, which is prepared to face the real competition starting next September.

That is why Nil Maizar, the former coach of the Indonesian national team, stated that this training session in Yogyakarta was attended by the entire Sumsel United squad.

"So we gathered all Sumsel United players, not only those who participated in the friendly match in Brunei Darussalam yesterday, but also those who followed from Palembang. Because during the ten-day training camp in Yogyakarta, we indeed want to improve all mistakes, both weaknesses when defending and attacking, as well as set pieces," said the coach born in Payakumbuh (West Sumatra), January 2, 1970.

After arriving in Yogyakarta in the morning, the Sumsel United officials immediately warmed up, starting their training session at Yogyakarta Independen Schooll (YIS) on Wednesday (6/8/2025) afternoon.

Sumsel United wears green uniforms, starting the training camp with stamina and body strengthening, led by physical trainer Dino Sefrianto.

Meanwhile, the goalkeeper training is directly led by the goalkeeper coach, Sahari Gultom.

The training session was directly led by the full-time coach, head coach Nil Maizar, accompanied by assistant coaches, Amirul Mukminin, Mahyadi Panggabean, Nur Iskandar, physical trainer Dino Sefrianto, analyst staff Dinar Bayu Aji, and goalkeeper coach Sahari Gultom.

After the defeat suffered by Sumsel United against the Brunei club, DPMM FC, it seems that Sumsel United's head coach, Nil Maizar, does not want his players to repeat the same mistake when facing the Ramadhan Sananta club.

After the stamina and fitness training session, the training session was directly taken over by the head coach, Nil Maizar. The players immediately gathered to listen and watch Nil Maizar's strategy.

Nil instructed his protégé to really look at the position of the empty player and find space in the game.

"Look for open space and an easy pass, choose the nearest teammate ready to receive the ball," said Nil Maizar.

After listening to head coach Nil Maizar, the players immediately tried and applied it on the field. At the same time, the coach, born in Payakumbuh, stopped the match for the players who did not follow his instructions, and practiced what his players should do.

Nil also continued to instruct his players to keep pressing the opponent who has the ball and not to give space to their teammates to ask for the ball, as seen when facing DPMM FC, where the players were able to find space easily.

"Come on, don't let him have the ball," he said.

Nil also continued to demonstrate for his teammates after passing the ball to a teammate, who kept moving and looking for space to create momentum and options for the teammate with the ball.

"After passing the ball, keep moving," he said.
