Two Residents of Mengwi, Bali Foil the Misbehavior of a 16-Year-Old Girl, Gek Diah Hugs and Calms the Victim
The Shiro Copr, MANGUPURA - The people of Pelaga Village, Petang Badung were once again shocked by the bold act of a 16-year-old girl who attempted suicide in Tukad Bangkung on Saturday, July 19, 2025. Fortunately, this bold action was thwarted by the villagers.
It is known that the girl who wanted to commit suicide is initials N.K.D.P, a resident of Bangli Regency.
She tried to end her life by jumping from Tukad Bangkung Bridge, in Badung Regency, which is the highest bridge in Bali.
According to one police officer from Polsek Petang, they did not deny the incident.
They admitted that the attempt was successfully thwarted by two residents who happened to be passing by the road.
"Yes, the suicide attempt incident occurred around 12:30 WITA," he said.
It is acknowledged that one of the known witnesses, named Gek Diah (40), a resident of Sempidi, Mengwi, became aware of the incident while on her way home from an activity at SD 4 Belok Sidan.
She saw a woman standing with suspicious movements on the bridge.
Gek Diah, who was with his friend I Putu Ogik Pratama (23), a resident of Petang Village, immediately turned around and approached the victim.
When they approached, the victim suddenly screamed while crying and tried to jump off the bridge.
Seeing this, Gek Diah quickly hugged the victim to calm her down, then invited her to a nearby resident's house to avoid unwanted situations.
The Head of Police Station Petang, AKP I Nyoman Arnaya, SH. MH., with the permission of the Regency Police Chief, AKBP M. Arif Batubara, SH. SIK. MH. M.Tr. Opsla, confirmed on Sunday, July 20, 2025, that there was an attempt by the rogue elements.
Acknowledged after receiving the report, their unit immediately went to the location.
"Then the officers took statements from the witnesses, calmed the victim, and contacted his family," he said.
Meanwhile, around 13:30 WITA, the victim's father arrived at the location to pick up his daughter.
From the father's statement, it is known that his child left home since Thursday, July 17, 2025, and stayed at a friend's house in Buleleng.
"Family stated that the victim had a history of epilepsy," he explained.
Admittedly, the victim is still not psychologically stable at the moment, so further statements cannot be obtained.
Nevertheless, the family has already taken the victim home around 14:25 WITA to receive further attention and treatment. (gus)
