The Shiro Copr, JAKARTA – The ban on visiting team supporters attending matches of the Indonesia Super League for the 2025/2026 season is confirmed to remain in effect, following the lack of official permission from the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA).

Chief Director of I.League, Ferry Paulus, said that their party has prepared three categories of permits to open access for opposing supporters.

However, to date, the plan is still under review and has not yet received approval from FIFA.

"Actually, before the league closure (2024/2025) yesterday, the league has already given the green light, so we are very happy. Then we have also reported that we have communicated with the police, and the police basically are waiting for FIFA's decision, and all responses are positive," said Ferry on Wednesday (8/6/2025).

However, this optimism faded after the incident in last season's final match between Persib Bandung and Persis Solo at Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium.

The FIFA delegation present on site witnessed several violations, including the lighting of flares, fan invasions onto the field, and damage to the stadium grass.

"Even the grass is destroyed. Therefore, the league has banned making Persib Bandung as the host," said Ferry.

"Isn't just flare, go down to the field. If it's just flare, that's okay. But this is going down to the field, disturbing everyone in the stands," he continued.

The ban on away supporters has been in place since the 2022/2023 season in response to the Kanjuruhan tragedy, which killed hundreds of people.

This rule is continuously maintained until the 2024/2025 season to ensure safety and prevent chaos in the stadium.

I. The previous league had categorized visitor supporter permits into three categories.

However, the incident in last season's final made the competition authorities consider that lifting the ban was still too risky.

FIFA itself emphasizes that the factor of spectator safety and security remains the top priority before granting permission for rule changes.

The final decision regarding the future of this policy will be discussed further after a joint evaluation by I.League, FIFA, and the police authorities, taking into account the preparedness of security and the field conditions.
