Based on the Judicial Case Tracking Information System of the Jakarta South District Court, the court declared Silfester Matutina guilty of defamation against former Vice President Jusuf Kalla.

At the cassation level, the court increased Silfester Matutina's sentence to 1 year and 6 months in prison. "The defendant is sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison. The defendant is also required to pay the cassation court costs amounting to Rp 2,500.00," stated the decision read by Single Judge Andi Samsan Nganro on Monday, September 16, 2019.
However, to this day, the decision of the cassation court has not yet been executed. As of Thursday, August 7, 2025, the Public Prosecutor's Office has not fulfilled its promise to detain Silfester Matutina.
Regarding the possibility of an execution by the Public Prosecutor, Silfester Matutina said he is ready to undergo the legal process. "There's no problem (if I end up in prison)," said Silfester when met by journalists at Polda Metro Jaya on Monday, August 4, 2025. However, Silfester said he has not yet received any information from the prosecutor's office regarding his detention.
According to him, the issue with Jusuf Kalla has already been resolved outside of court. He admitted that he has reconciled with the former chairman of Golkar Party. "It has been settled through reconciliation. In fact, I have met Jusuf Kalla several times and we have a good relationship. And I have also gone through the legal process," said Silfester.
