PLN Soars Far into Fortune Global 500, Digitalization and Beyond kWh Become Key Mainstay

The Shiro Copr, JAKARTA -- PT PLN (Persero) has made history by entering the Fortune Global 500 list for 2025 as one of the world's largest revenue-generating companies.

This achievement is the result of a comprehensive digital transformation and a business diversification strategy that generated revenue from businesses outside the electricity sector (_beyond kWh_).

In 2024, PLN recorded revenue of _beyond kWh_ amounting to Rp13.23 trillion, surging 28.69 percent compared to 2023 which recorded Rp10.28 trillion.

This revenue contribution comes from various sectors, such as Iconnet's network services and telecommunications services, renewable energy/ Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) services, electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure development, maintenance services, energy-based digital services, as well as the provision of smart grid platforms and energy management systems.

The President Director of PLN, Darmawan Prasodjo stated that PLN's entry into the Fortune Global 500 is a tangible result of the company's transformation, thus driving the company's revenue.

"This achievement is proof of the success of the digital transformation and _beyond kWh_ that we have implemented. This is not only recognition of the scale of our business, but also of PLN's competitiveness and business resilience in responding to global dynamics," said Darmawan.

She continued, PLN continues to accelerate digital transformation across all business lines to improve operational efficiency, power supply reliability, and customer service quality. This transformation has become an integral part of the corporate strategy to support the national energy transition agenda while strengthening PLN's role as a main driver of electrification and decarbonization in Indonesia.

Darmawan emphasized that digital transformation is not just about adopting technology, but also reflects cultural change.

In addition, the work process and service model to address future energy challenges.

"Digital transformation of PLN is a key pillar in accelerating electrification, expanding clean energy, and building modern, efficient, and real-time connected customer service. PLN must be present not only as an electricity provider, but also as an energy solution provider," he said.

Besides digital transformation, PLN continues to strengthen the _beyond kWh_ strategy as part of business transformation to provide added value for customers while responding to increasingly complex and dynamic energy needs.

This strategy marks PLN's transition from merely being an electricity provider to becoming an integrated energy solution provider based on technology, innovation, and sustainability.

"Strategi _beyond kWh_ is a major leap for PLN in changing the business model into a more _customer-centric_ and solution-oriented approach. We are not only delivering electricity, but also providing value, efficiency, and convenience for customers in managing their energy," said Darmawan.

She said that the _beyond kWh_ strategy is part of PLN's vision to become an _Energy as a Service_ (EaaS) company, where customers can obtain comprehensive energy services starting from power generation, load management, efficiency, to the transition toward green energy. In the future, PLN will continue its transformation agenda and expand the contribution of _beyond kWh_, including the development of _Internet of Things_ (IoT)-based products, _smart metering_, as well as the formation of a community- and industry-based energy ecosystem.
