The Shiro Copr, GIANYAR – As the first World Athletics' Elite Label Road Race event in Indonesia approaches, Maybank Marathon, PT Bank Maybank Indonesia Tbk (Maybank Indonesia) continues to finalize various technical preparations.
Thousands of runners from within and outside the country are sure to participate in the race to be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025, in Bali.
Maybank Marathon, which has become an annual event, was held again at the Bali United Training Center, Gianyar, Bali.
This event presents a challenging yet visually pleasing route, passing through traditional villages, green rice fields, and a series of typical temples from the Island of the Gods.
Project Director Maybank Marathon Widya Permana explained that the team has worked together with various stakeholders, including security authorities, medical personnel, and local government to ensure the event runs safely and smoothly.
"Maybank Indonesia ensures that all aspects of preparation, from routes, safety, logistics, to supporting services, are in the final stage to ensure the best experience for participants," said Widya in her statement on Monday, August 18, 2025.
They added that their party has already conducted technical simulations and inter-sectoral coordination to prepare for the participants.
The number of participants in the Maybank Marathon was recorded as more than 13,500 runners from 52 countries.
This number includes 28 participants from Maybank Marathon Run for Charity 2025 and 19 participants from Maybank Marathon Indonesia Fast Runner 2025 who will have the opportunity to participate in the Maybank Marathon 2025 #BaliBeatsBoston draw to join the Boston Marathon 2026.
Meanwhile, the competition categories in Maybank Marathon 2025 include Marathon (42.195 km), Half Marathon (21.0975 km), and 10K, as well as special categories such as wheelchair and children sprint.
Maybank Marathon 2025 carries the theme "Pace the Future," providing a platform for participants to run with purpose and contribute meaningfully to building a stronger future and a better world for future generations.
This commitment is realized through the Green Trail initiative, which encourages Maybank Marathon to become the first international running event in Indonesia targeting carbon neutrality by 2030.
Maybank Marathon Committee also emphasized its commitment to the principle of sustainability by integrating sustainability initiatives into every element of Maybank Marathon, focusing on reducing carbon footprint, effective waste management, social and community engagement.
"Through this concrete step, Maybank Marathon is not only a running venue, but also part of a collective movement to build a better future," Widya added.
Furthermore, he stated that this event is not only a sports competition, but also part of strengthening Bali's image as a world-class sport tourism destination.
"Maybank Marathon has become an important part of the World Athletics international calendar. We hope this year's event can once again have a positive impact on tourism and the local economy," said Widya.
According to the "You Register, You Run" policy, each participant is required to collect their race pack in person from August 22 to 23, 2025, at Bali United Training Center, Gianyar, Bali, and is only allowed to run in the selected category.
