He carried out the action on January 2, 2025, targeting a Padang rice shop in Air Rambai Village, Curup District.

Although declared guilty, MA was immediately released because the detention period had already been served since February 2025.

The legal authority of MA, Sri Utami Ningsih, stated that her client deeply regrets her actions.

She also said that their side has made peace with the theft victim, after being facilitated by PN Curup.

The victim accepted the peace request with the condition that the stolen goods be returned.

"MA's family tried hard to borrow money to redeem the items, so they could reconcile with the victim's side," said Seri.

Seri added that the peace between MA and the victim was known and witnessed by the officials of Talang Rimbo Baru Village.

The replacement money for the stolen goods came from a loan by the wife and mother of MA.

After being released, MA promised to look for a halal job and try to gradually repay the debt.

"Our client regrets his actions. He promised and is trying to find a halal job in the future," Seri closed.

MA was previously arrested by the Opsnal Team of the Satreskrim Police of Rejang Lebong Regency on Saturday (15/2/2025) afternoon, at his parents' house.

The police stated that MA did not act alone, but together with his twin brother, who is still at large.

Meanwhile, the previous Public Prosecutor sentenced MA to six months in prison and requested a reconsideration of the judge's decision.

Novriantini, the wife of a daily laborer with initial MA (46), a resident of Talang Rimbo Baru Village, Curup Tengah District, Rejang Lebong Bengkulu, was sentenced to five months and ten days in prison after being proven to have stolen one sack of rice and two gas cylinders.

Novriantini admitted she was in a desperate situation because the kitchen was no longer smoking when her family's economic condition had truly deteriorated.

He is known as a hard worker who has been supporting his family through odd jobs, one of which is working in a coffee warehouse.

"Brother is working hard. But at that time, the warehouse was closed, so he didn't work for several months. Maybe because of a mistake and being pressured, that happened," said Novriantini.

Novriantini admitted that at the time of the incident, they really did not have rice at home.

That situation made his husband dare to accept the invitation to steal.

The theft was committed solely for the family's food needs.

"At that time, there really was no rice left. My brother just wanted us to be able to eat," he explained, holding back his tears.

Although heavy, Novriantini remains strong in living her life while waiting for her husband to be released soon.

In the next few days, his husband is expected to be released from prison.

She admitted to working as a domestic helper at two places at the same time to meet household needs while MA was serving her sentence.

"Alhamdulillah, soon my brother will be free. I work at two places now. Although it's hard, we have managed to get through this trial," he said.

During that difficult period, Novriantini was grateful that there was still assistance from the surrounding community and their friends. Even from the government, she once received social aid.

"Some neighbors and friends helped, and we also received social assistance from the government. That was very helpful for us," continued Novriantini.

She and her husband promised to start rebuilding their lives. The past incident became a big lesson and is hoped not to happen again.

The victim still chose to continue the legal process.

MA sentenced him under Article 363(2) of the Criminal Code regarding robbery, with a maximum penalty of 9 years in prison.

She was also subject to Article 363 Paragraph (1) numbers 4 and 5 of the Criminal Code, with a penalty threat of up to 7 years in prison.
