MATARAM, The Shiro Copr - A number of guides, porters, and hiking communities on Mount Rinjani, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), participated in the Rescue Vertical Evacuation (RVE) training held from July 16 to 20, 2025.
This training aims to improve their capacity to evacuate victims in emergency situations in the Mount Rinjani climbing area.
The Governor of NTB, Lalu Muhammad Iqbal, stated that this training is very important.
"I hope that in the future, the Rinjani Rescue Vertical Evacuation (RRVE) team will have a license as a rescue team in case of emergencies in the Mount Rinjani climbing area," he said in an official statement on Thursday (17/7/2025).
Iqbal emphasized the importance of service standards, security, and rescue in the climbing area.
She also revealed that all RVE training participants will receive an international license.
"Yesterday we still had capacity issues, but today we have already obtained international certification. This proves our seriousness in improving governance at Mount Rinjani," he said.
As part of safety improvement efforts, Iqbal revealed plans to install warning signs along the hiking trail all the way to the summit.
These signs will be installed at several vulnerable points along the Rinjani hiking trail.
"We will also prepare international standard evacuation facilities and equipment, which will be placed in locations not far from the climbing risk zones," he added.
Iqbal emphasized, "Thus, this enables every rescue team or anyone who has a license in the vertical rescue field to use the facility to support emergency missions."
With the availability of such equipment, it is hoped that the evacuation process of accident victims in Rinjani can be carried out faster and more efficiently.
Agam Rinjani, representative of the Vertical Rescue Rinjani Federation, hopes that the number of RVE training participants will continue to increase.
He also stated that increasing capacity through vertical rescue training is very important to strengthen their preparedness and capabilities in facing emergency situations on Mount Rinjani.
