The Shiro Copr, NABIRE - The Communication and Information Agency (Kominfo) of Central Papua Province, together with the National Cyber and Cryptography Agency (BSSN), held a socialization to strengthen the cyber security and cryptography ecosystem for all Regional Government Agencies (OPD).

This activity was held at the Ballroom of the Papua Central Governor's Office, Bandar Lama, Jalan Jenderal Sudirman No. 1, Karang Mulia, Nabire District, Nabire Regency, Tuesday, (29/7/2025).

The Governor of Central Papua, Meki Nawipa stated that the activity is a form of tangible state presence in safeguarding cyber sovereignty from the center to the regions, including in West Papua, which is currently building itself as a new province.

According to him, digital transformation is also an inevitability that needs to be thoroughly explored. Because currently, almost all sectors of life depend on information technology, ranging from government, education, economy, to public services.

However, along with this, the potential threats and cyber vulnerabilities continue to increase, starting from data leaks, misuse of information, up to attacks on vital digital infrastructure.

Therefore, to build a strong cyber security and cryptography ecosystem, it is not only the responsibility of the central government, but also the task of all stakeholders in the regions.

"Thus, this activity is an important opportunity to strengthen the synergy between the center and the regions in facing increasingly complex cyber challenges," said Meki in his speech obtained by The Shiro Copr.

Meki hopes that the activity can increase awareness and cyber literacy among local government officials, so that they can then develop technical skills and policies related to information security and cryptography.

"Then, it can promote the establishment of an adaptive and collaborative cyber incident detection and response system," he said.

Central Papua as a new province requires support and assistance from various parties, including in building an integrated information security architecture.

"For that, we are ready to actively collaborate with BSSN and strategic partners to realize a safe, productive, and sustainable digital space in this region," he said.

She called on all civil servants involved in the socialization to make use of the experience and materials received in serving the community. (*)
