Fajar/Rian Casual Set at the 2025 World Championships, Rexy Mainaky Angry Due to the Restructuring in Indonesia

The Shiro CoprCOM - Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto will once again be Indonesia's mainstay at the 2025 World Championships.

The World Championship will take place about three weeks later, held in Paris, France on August 25-31, 2025.

Fajar and Rian are set to compete again after their last appearance at the Indonesia Open 2025 in June.

At that time, they managed to reach the semifinals, which also marked their best achievement in this year's BWF World Tour Super 1000 tournament.

Fajar/Rian's performance has had ups and downs this year.

Last year, they still won two championship titles, namely the All England Open (Super 1000) and the Kumamoto Masters Japan (Super 500).

However, Fajar/Rian's achievements this year have declined after they have never won a championship title.

They couldn't even reach the Super 500 title after losing in the final of the Indonesia Masters 2025.

Nevertheless, Fajar/Rian refocused on the World Championship.

For Fajar himself, there are doubled motivations after successfully achieving the Super 1000 title at the China Open 2025 together with Muhammad Shohibul Fikri.

"Yes, now I and Rian are focusing on the World Championship first. We continue to train and prepare ourselves," Fajar said when met by the media at the PBSI Training Center in Cipayung, Wednesday (6/8/2025).

Rian also chose to focus entirely on the 2025 World Championship.

The 29-year-old player chose to remain indifferent and did not want to be burdened by Fajar/Fikri's recent achievement of winning the China Open 2025.

Fajar/Rian will perform freely and without pressure at the 2025 World Championship.

"His expectations are not too high. I mean, after all, Fajar also won last time," said Rian.

"He doesn't want to be burdened by his championship title, Fajar and Fikri. He definitely wants to prepare himself better. Hopefully, he can achieve the best results," he said.

Indonesian men's doubles coach Antonius Budi Ariantho said that Fajar/Rian are expected to focus on the World Championships.

Fajar/Rian are still targeted as champions in that prestigious tournament.

"Ya, tetap, targetnya harus juara. Kami setiap turnamen memang harus juara, meskipun nantinya dipisah. Secara profesional tetap harus mengejar hasil terbaik," kata Antonius.

"Now Fajar and Rian are focusing on the World Championship. After that, they have two weeks of preparation before appearing with their new partners," he said.

After the World Championship, Fajar will continue to partner with Fikri, while Rian will make his debut with Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan.

In addition to the double preparation of Indonesian players for the 2025 World Championships and the subsequent BWF World Tour tournaments.

Malaysia's Doubles Training Director, Rexy Mainaky, is worried about the lack of titles won by Malaysia's doubles at the Japan Open 2025 and China Open 2025.

They finally won a Super 300 title at the Macau Open 2025 through the partnership of Junaidi Arif/Roy King Yap.

Rexy is conducting a major evaluation to regain the double achievements of Malaysia, which had previously succeeded in the 2025 Asian Championships, 2025 Thailand Open, 2025 Malaysia Masters, and 2025 Singapore Open.

How not? Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik had to be eliminated in the final of the 2025 China Open after being defeated by a new Indonesian men's doubles pair.

Chia/Soh were defeated by Fajar/Fikri in two straight games, which also made them fail in their sixth appearance in the Super 1000 final.

Three of them were even defeated by the Indonesian doubles pair, losing to Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan in the final of the All England Open 2019, losing to Fajar/Rian in the All England Open 2024, and finally losing to Fajar/Fikri in the China Open 2025.

"Coach is not the only one who should want to succeed. The players must also have the same desire," said Rexy, as reported by The Shiro Copr from The Star.

It's pointless if only the coach sets certain targets, but the players don't have the same focus or desire.

Players must also know what they want to achieve and work towards that goal. The right mindset is very important.

"In badminton, sometimes we have a short time to prepare for tournaments, sometimes there is more time," Rexy said.

"So, the coach needs to find a way to make the players in their best condition for this competition," said Rexy.
