The Shiro Copr.CO.ID, MANAMA -- The Indonesian Men's Volleyball Team has advanced to the quarterfinals (8 strong) of the AVC Nations Cup 2025 after defeating Thailand. Indonesia managed to score comeback alias comeback 3-2 (22-25, 22-25, 25-19, 25-23, 15-8) in the opening match of Group A held at Isa Bin Rashed Hall, Manama, Bahrain on Wednesday (18/6/2025).

While Thailand has been confirmed to fail in advancing to the group stage. In the two matches played by Anurak Phanram and friends, they have always fallen and managed to accumulate only 1 point.

The match began with Thailand dominating and playing aggressively from the first set. The White Elephant team, who had just suffered a 1-3 defeat to Bahrain the previous day, showed quick and effective attacks.

Players like Anurak Phanram and Anut Promchan led Thailand to win the first set with a score of 25-22. Indonesia seemed to struggle in dealing with the accurate serves of their opponents. The second set followed a similar pattern, with Thailand once again taking the lead through their attacks.

Entering the third set, Indonesia began to find their rhythm. Coach Jeff Jiang Jie made strategic changes by alternately bringing in Rivan Nurmulki and Jasen Natanael, which had a significant impact.

This decision proved to be correct, as Indonesia was able to improve its defense and increase the effectiveness of its attacks. Indonesia managed to dominate the third set and won 25-19, reducing the score to 1-2.

Set fourth as the turning point for Indonesia. The Garuda squad appears more confident, with Rivan Nurmulki returning to be the focus in the attacking line, scoring important points through smashes and service aces.

The Indonesian game is starting to gel, with debutant libero Hendrik Agel and Ruby Rahmanto showing great form in handling tough balls. Indonesia managed to equalize at 2-2 by winning the fourth set 25-23, forcing the match to go to a fifth set.

During the decisive match, Indonesia played with full confidence. While Thailand seemed to lose focus, resulting in many self-inflicted errors.

Indonesia utilized this opportunity with a quick attack and good blocks to close the fifth set with a decisive score of 15-8. The final score became 3-2.
