Today's Catholic reflection is at the end of this article.
As for the Catholic liturgical readings for Wednesday, July 30, 2025, are as follows:
First Reading Exodus 34:29-35
Seeing Moses' face, the people of Israel were afraid to approach.
When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the commandment of God, he did not know that his face was shining because he had spoken with the Lord. And when Aaron and all the people of Israel saw Moses, behold, his face was shining.
So they were afraid to find him. But Moses called them. Then Aaron and the leaders of the congregation came to him, and Moses spoke to them.
After that, all the people of Israel came near, and he proclaimed to them all the commands that the Lord had spoken to him on Mount Sinai.
After Moses had finished speaking with them, he covered his face. But when Moses entered to speak with the Lord, he removed the veil until he came out.
And when he came out, he delivered to The Israelite who was commanded. When the Israelites saw that the skin of Moses' face was shining, Moses covered his face again until he went in to speak with the Lord.
Thus speaks the Lord.
U. Syukur Kepada Allah.
Response Psalm Ps 99:5.6.7.9
Thanks be to the Lord, our God.
Exalt the Lord, our God, and worship at His footstool! Sanctify Him!
Moses and Aaron among His priests, and Samuel among those who called upon His name. They called to the Lord, and He answered them.
In the pillar of cloud He spoke to them; they had adhered to His warnings, and to the decrees He had given them.
Exalt the Lord, our God, and worship before His holy mountain! For the Lord, our God, is holy!
Gospel of John 2:5
Ref. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.
Perfect is the love of God in the hearts of those who listen to the words of Christ.
Gospel Reading: Matthew 13:44-46
I sold all that he had, then bought that field.
Once, Jesus was teaching the people, "The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field, which a person found and then hid again. Because of his joy, he went and sold all that he had, and bought that field."
Likewise, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls. After he found a pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.
Thus is the Gospel of the Lord.
U. Praise Christ.
Daily Catholic Reflection
"Because of his joy, he went and sold all that he had, then bought that field." (Mat 13:44b). Temporary wealth is always attractive and becomes the object of worship and idol for human beings. Even those who have abundant wealth think that Jesus Christ loves and cares more for them. Temporary wealth still tempts human beings to fight and chase it without limits. Jesus has a different life spirit compared to us ordinary humans. The spirit of emptiness of any temporary wealth in life is what Jesus brings into a world that is deeply intoxicated with worldly riches. Temporary wealth still has a bad influence on human beings, distancing them from God and closing their hearts to others.
His heart is attached to his wealth. "Where your treasure is, there your heart is also." The soul clings to worldly things because the way of obtaining them is full of deception, which undermines the value of honesty and justice, making them barren within one's heart. Therefore, Jesus taught us that the Kingdom of God is like a treasure found in a field or a precious pearl sought by someone to own it. The Kingdom of God is the most valuable and beautiful treasure for the salvation of our souls. When one finds it, all temporary possessions are sold completely to buy or own it. All of this happens because of joy in the heart.
The hearts of rich young people become sad and they give up following Jesus because their wealth is abundant and they are unwilling to sell it in order to follow Jesus and obtain heavenly treasure, which brings lasting joy and peace in their lives. The most precious and beautiful treasure in heaven belongs to Jesus. To obtain it, one must follow the Lord Jesus by selling the temporal possessions that bind, that is, the treasures of sin and the wealth of pride, injustice, greed, and the insatiable desire to possess.
When Moses met God and spoke with Him, he removed his face veil. When he came to meet the Israelites, his face was radiant. Removing the veil illustrates human unworthiness before the holiness of God. This is the true way of spiritual life. Remove our temporal possessions and bad habits. "And when Moses went in before the Lord to speak with Him, he took the veil off until he came out; and when he came out, he told the children of Israel what was commanded." (Exodus 34:34). The Israelites were afraid to approach Moses.
He remained humble and called them. He rejoiced because he had found the most beautiful heavenly treasure and shared it with those he led. The psalmist responded in his song, "Exalt the Lord, our God, and worship before His holy mountain. For the Lord, our God, is holy." (Psalm 99:9). Meeting the Lord is a sacred opportunity. Humility, knowing one's unworthiness, then we show it through genuine repentance. Moses realized his fragility, so he removed his veil while speaking spiritually with the Lord.
The opportunity that God has given us to possess this invaluable treasure. Therefore, let us strive with faith, relying on God to seize this heavenly treasure by faithfully repenting, bravely forgiving, diligently doing good, and always being motivated to perform acts of love for Jesus' brothers: the poor who are impoverished, the disabled, and those who are entangled in the devil's tricks, which provoke them to commit crimes beyond their capabilities.
Empty the worldly possessions within yourself, so that the light of God shines in your life. Make room for God within you, so that your life may be protected, blessed, and freed from the attacks of the destructive devil. Finally, through the virtues of faith, hope, and love, become a winner in seizing the Kingdom of God. (Source: the katolik.com/kgg)
