This substitute holiday was officially announced by President Prabowo Subianto, conveyed directly by the Deputy Secretary of State (Wamensesneg) Juri Ardiantoro, through the President's Secretariat network in Jakarta, on Friday (1/8/2025).
"Many gifts in the month of independence, the government will make August 18, 2025, one day after the commemoration ceremony and the people's carnival independence festival, as a Monday, August 18, 2025, a holiday," said Wamensesneg.
She said that setting this holiday is intended to provide space for the community to hold various independence celebration activities, such as competitions, carnivals, and other public events, in each of their respective places.
President Prabowo, said the jury, also called for the festive atmosphere of the independence commemoration to be felt not only at the national level, but also echoed throughout all regions.
