AC Milan Wants Rasmus Hojlund, Manchester United Ready to Sell If Benjamin Sesko Officially Arrives at Old Trafford

The Shiro Copr - The 2025 summer transfer window is heating up again with a major rumor involving AC Milan and Manchester United. The Italian club is reported to be in England for direct negotiations with the Red Devils regarding the transfer of young striker Rasmus Hojlund.

This step follows Manchester United's reportedly almost reaching an agreement with RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko. If Sesko indeed arrives at Old Trafford, it is believed that Hojlund's position will be pushed down the priority list of coach Rúben Amorim.

According to a report by Gazzetta dello Sport, AC Milan's representatives are currently in England and actively holding discussions with United's management. Their goal is clear: to bring Hojlund to San Siro on a one-season loan deal, with a permanent purchase option in the summer of 2026 worth 35 million euros (approximately 30.3 million pounds, or around Rp 604 billion).

According to the same Italian media, Milan had initially targeted Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, but now their focus has shifted to Hojlund. An agreement is expected to be reached this weekend, just before Milan faces Chelsea in a pre-season match in London next Sunday.

"An agreement with Manchester United can be reached soon, depending on the results of the final negotiations this weekend," wrote Gazzetta dello Sport in its report on Wednesday (8/7).

Hojlund himself is said to still want to stay in Manchester and fight for his place in the first team. However, a source quoted by Gazzetta mentioned that the 22-year-old player has started to accept the possibility of having to move if United actually recruit Sesseko.

A source from The Telegraph also revealed that Hojlund once received an offer from RB Leipzig, but the player rejected it. He is said to be more interested in playing for a big club with a long history, such as AC Milan, rather than returning to the Bundesliga.

Nevertheless, there has been debate among analysts and fans regarding United's possible decision to sell Hojlund. After all, if they only rely on Sesko and Joshua Zirkzee as senior strikers, the depth of Manchester United's forward line is considered not yet ideal.

Moreover, according to a report from The Telegraph, two other players who are sometimes placed in attacking positions, such as Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, are actually more effective playing as number 10 central midfielders.

This situation could be beneficial for Hojlund. If he stays, he can still get playing minutes with the rotation system applied by Rúben Amorim. But from the player's perspective, the need to perform regularly in the year before the 2026 World Cup makes the option to move seem more reasonable.

"Hojlund needs to play consistently to keep his place in the Danish national team for the next big tournament," wrote The Telegraph in an analysis of the striker's performance last season.

In the 2024–2025 season, Hojlund's performance has not been optimal. He has managed to score only four goals in the Premier League in 34 appearances. Although still young and promising, the pressure to perform consistently at a club like Manchester United is huge.

Meanwhile, at AC Milan, this move is considered a medium-term investment. At 22 years old, Hojlund is believed to still have plenty of room for development. If he performs impressively in Serie A, Milan might activate the permanent purchase option that has already been prepared.

Previously, Milan was also known as a place for the development of many young strikers. Names such as Andriy Shevchenko, Alexandre Pato, and Rafael Leão once flourished at San Siro.

If this transfer is successfully realized, Hojlund will become part of the wave of young players choosing Serie A as a place to build their careers, following in the footsteps of other European young stars.

Meanwhile, United are reportedly working to finalize negotiations with RB Leipzig regarding the transfer of Benjamin Sesko. According to a report from Sky Sports, both parties have agreed on personal terms, but the structure of the transfer fee is still under discussion. The transfer of Sesko is expected to reach 50 million pounds, or approximately Rp 996 billion.

If this process is completed in the next few days, then Hojlund's exit to Milan is believed to be just a matter of time. Amorim also does not rule out the possibility of restructuring his forward line to adapt to Sesko's characteristics.

This situation has become a hot topic on social media. Some Manchester United fans regret Hojlund's departure was too early, while Milan fans welcomed him with optimism. They believe Hojlund could become the next big project under Stefano Pioli's cool hand.

As of this news, there has been no official statement from either Manchester United or AC Milan. However, internal club sources mentioned that the final decision is likely to be announced after Milan's friendly match against Chelsea in London.

From a management perspective, this decision is understandable. United needs a sharp striker with a high goal-scoring instinct, while Milan needs a young striker who can develop. In this case, the situation becomes a win-win solution — as long as the negotiations go smoothly.

Considering all these factors, Hojlund is now at a career crossroads. Staying at Old Trafford with the risk of limited playing time, or moving to Milan and opening a new chapter as a young star in Serie A.

According to a report by Gazzetta dello Sport, the final decision can be made within 48 hours. "If the talks go smoothly, Milan could secure Hojlund's services before next week begins," the media stated.

Now, the public just has to wait and see whether Rasmus Hojlund will indeed wear the red-black jersey next season. One thing is certain, this transfer saga has become one of the most interesting stories in the 2025 summer transfer window.
