6 Months Dismissed from the Indonesia National Team, Shin Tae-yong Admits Communication with Erick Thohir Has Been Cut Off

Shin Tae-yong, the coach of the Indonesia national team, admits he no longer communicates with Erick Thohir since being dismissed by PSSI.

Shin Tae-yong speaks openly after no longer serving as the coach of the Indonesian national team following his dismissal in January 2025.

The decision left a deep mark, not only on Indonesian national team fans, but also on Shin Tae-yong himself.

The South Korean coach still does not know the reason behind his dismissal from the position of head coach of the Indonesian national team.

Regarding the dismissal, Shin Tae-yong admitted that he and Jeje did not receive any information from the federation.

According to him, he was suddenly approached by the PSSI officials one morning with a letter canceling the coach's contract.

As known, Shin Tae-yong had just received a contract extension until 2027.

Shin Tae-yong initially did not think far, but he admitted he was very confused about the decision to fire him.

"There's no information, you shouldn't ask me that, you (Jeje) know yourself, you are my translator," said Shin Tae-yong.

There was no warning at all, you know, I was invited to meet at 09:30, then given a contract cancellation letter.

I was thinking, what is this. Personally, I didn't think anything, just (confused) why I had to be fired?

When asked about his relationship with Erick Thohir and the PSSI now, Shin Tae-yong answered that there is no longer any communication.

Although he still does not know the reason why he was fired from his coaching position, Shin Tae-yong is unwilling to discuss it anymore.

The 54-year-old coach feels he still has self-respect as a coach with a reputation to maintain.

"Now we don't communicate even through Instagram," said Shin Tae-yong again.

Once, we often chatted via Instagram, KakaoTalk or WhatsApp. But now it's completely different.

I don't know why I should stop training, so I don't want to bring it up again. I also have my pride.

Shin Tae-yong's coaching career continues with the local Korean League club, Ulsan HD.

Previously, Shin Tae-yong was appointed as one of the officials at Seongnam FC.

She is also a member of the board of the Korean Football Association (KFA) as vice president.

However, he left the position upon accepting an offer as the new coach of Ulsan HD.

Shin Tae-yong emerged as a replacement for the former coach of the Malaysian National Team, Kim Pan-gon, who was previously dismissed by Ulsan HD.
