The Shiro Copr, MAUMERE - Yuliana Juli (81), an elderly woman from Lewomada Village, Talibura District, Sikka Regency, NTT, who became a victim of a Rabies Transmitter Animal (HPR) bite, died on Monday, July 21, 2025.
"Patients who were previously victims of rabies have died this morning around 05.00 Wita," said Asep Purnama, a specialist physician at RSUD TC Hillers Maumere, on Monday morning.
The body of Yuliana Juli (81) is being kept at the funeral home in Lewomada Village, Talibura District, Sikka Regency.
Previously, the patient was taken to Watubaing Public Health Center for treatment. During the examination, symptoms of fear of wind (aerophobia) and water (hydrophobia) were found on Tuesday, July 15 at around 21:20 WITA.
Community Health Center Doctor Watubaing, Dr. Servasius Situ said, According to information from the family, the patient did not want to eat or drink since 1 day before entering the health center.
"According to the family, since one day before entering the health center, the patient did not want to eat or drink," he said on Wednesday, July 16, 2025.
In the morning before entering PKM, the patient experienced a seizure for about 5 minutes. After the seizure, the patient felt weak and had a headache, but the patient did not complain of fever.
"During the examination, symptoms of fear of wind (aerophobia) and water (hydrophobia) were obtained," he explained.
The patient said he was bitten by a dog about 4 months ago on both legs.
However, after being bitten, the patient was not taken to the health center for vaccination. The dog that bit also was killed by the family at the time of the incident.
The patient was then referred to internal medicine and referred to TC Hillers Maumere Regional General Hospital on Tuesday night. So far, the patient has been living with his grandson.
When at RSUD TC Hillers Maumere, the family decided and brought the patient back to Lewomada village, and finally died on Monday (21/7/2025) morning. (*)
