The Shiro Copr Democrat Party politician Michael Wattimena has decided to resign from the party's leadership. This decision was made after he was appointed as a commissioner of PT Pertamina International Shipping. Previously, he served as Chairman of Department VII, Food Sector, DPP Democrat Party.
The announcement was made by Michael Wattimena in his statement on Sunday (7/20). Previously, he was a member of the DPR from 2009 to 2019 from the Democratic Party Fraction. While in Senayan, he once served as a leader of Commission IV and Commission V.
The woman born on January 12, 1969, was appointed as a Commissioner of PT Pertamina International Shipping. The decision was made during a General Meeting of Shareholders (RUPS) held at the Pertamina Holding Office in Jakarta on Tuesday (7/8).
In addition, he is believed to be the Minister of ESDM Bahlil Lahadalia as a Special Advisor to the Minister of ESDM in the field of Negotiation, Diplomacy, and Cooperation in Minerals and Coal. This position has been held by him since April.
"Since I was given the mandate as a Commissioner of Pertamina, I have resigned from my position in Partai Demokrat. Of course, it was very difficult to leave the party that provided me with the opportunity to become a politician and a member of the DPR RI," said Michael.
At that occasion, he thanked Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) for his advice and guidance so far. "Also, Mr. Ketum Mas AHY's trust in the DPP officials and Mas Ibas," he said.
According to him, a safe position or office is very important. Including maintaining the trust that has been given. Michael said that he accompanies Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia in completing the noble task of realizing energy justice for all the people of Indonesia.
In the Ministry of ESDM, he is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the electricity supply reaches the regions. Then also ensuring fishermen get energy or diesel supplies for fishing. He revealed that children in Raja Ampat, Maluku, until Alor are waiting for electricity as if waiting for a dream.
Then, regarding his role as a Commissioner at Pertamina International Shipping, he oversees the vital distribution routes of energy across all the islands. For him, energy is not just about kilowatts and tankers. "Energy is a matter of life and death for development," he emphasized. Michael understands that if energy distribution is weak, justice remains just a promise.
As a child from Eastern Indonesia, he said that access to development must be even. Distribution of energy must also be felt by the people in the remote areas of Indonesia, including Eastern Indonesia. (wan)
