Roy Suryo Asks for a Special Case Status in the Case of Alleged Fake Diploma of Jokowi

JAKARTA, The Shiro Corp - Former Youth and Sports Minister (Menpora) Roy Suryo visited Polda Metro Jaya on Monday (21/7/2025) as the accused party over allegations of fake diploma of former President of the 7th Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

They, along with other suspects such as Rizal Fadillah, Rustam Effendi, and Kurnia Tri Royani, sent a letter to the Head of Bagwassidik and Ditreskrimum of Polda Metro Jaya.

The first letter is intended to convey a request or application for the holding of a Special Trial in the case of allegations of fake diplomas of Jokowi.

This was proposed after the investigators elevated the case of the fake diploma accusation against Jokowi from the investigation stage to the examination stage.

"The case does not involve us as the interested party, in this case as the accused," said Ahmad Khozinudin, from the legal team of activists and scholars (TPUA), to journalists at Mapolda Metro Jaya, Monday.

Second letter, namely the request for an examination of Jokowi regarding the alleged criminal offense of defamation and slander, as well as the request to confiscate the original diploma from Gadjah Mada University (UGM).

"Requesting the so-called original diploma, we don't know the result, the so-called original diploma of brother Joko Widodo was seized," he said.

The confiscation process is required in the stages of the process and procedures to prove the alleged defamation and defamation, as the original diploma needs to be tested through forensic laboratory testing based on the report (LP) submitted by Jokowi on April 30, 2025.

"Cannot borrow the results from Bareskrim Mabes Polri, and the investigators from Polda Metro Jaya also do not have the authority to seize the results from Bareskrim Mabes Polri because it is a different process, separate, with different subjects and investigators, so it cannot be combined," said Ahmad.

She also emphasized that the seizure was carried out to avoid efforts to destroy evidence.

"If it's not confiscated, there would be many cases that are still unresolved, like the fire at the Attorney General's Office, which is currently investigating a specific case," said Ahmad.

"There is also a fraud case and fire incidents at Pasar Pramuka. This is also worrying, as the house of the complainant in Solo was set on fire before the case even reached the court," he continued.

Previously reported, the Metro Jaya Police increased the status of the case involving the accusation of a fake diploma of the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo or Jokowi, from investigation to examination.

The elevation of the case status is based on the result of the case review by the State Security Sub-Direction, General Criminal Investigation Directorate, Metro Jaya Police Department on Thursday (10/7/2025).

"Regarding the first report (LP) filed by Ir HJW, it was concluded in the case title that there were indications of a criminal event, so the case was escalated to the investigation stage," said Kabid Humas Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Ade Ary Syam Indradi, on Friday (11/7/2025).

The State Security Sub-Direction of the General Criminal Investigation Directorate of Metro Jaya Police is currently handling six police reports, including one filed by Jokowi. Jokowi's report relates to defamation and/or slander.

Meanwhile, five other police reports are the result of cases referred from the regency police to Polda Metro Jaya. The subject of these five reports is incitement.

"Lima reports are divided into two. Three LPs have found indications of criminal events, so they have moved to the investigation stage. And two other reports have been withdrawn, and the complainants did not meet the clarification invitation," said Ade Ary.

It is known that Jokowi reported the fake diploma allegations to Polda Metro Jaya on Wednesday (30/4/2025). The report was registered with number LP/B/2831/IV/2025/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA.

In the chronology presented by Jokowi when making the report, there are five names. They are Roy Suryo Notodiprojo, Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar, Eggi Sudjana, Tifauzia Tyassuma, and Kurnia Tri Royani.

Nevertheless, the suspect in this case is still under investigation because evidence needs to be obtained during the investigation process.

The State Security Sub-Direction of the General Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Jakarta Metro Police received evidence from Jokowi, consisting of one USB flash drive containing 24 YouTube video links and social media X content, copies of diplomas along with their certified copies, copies of thesis covers, and acceptance forms.

In this case, Jokowi is charged under Article 310 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 311 of the Criminal Code, as well as Article 35 together with Article 51 paragraph (1), Article 32 paragraph (1) together with Article 48 paragraph (1), and/or Article 27A together with Article 45 paragraph (4) of Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions.

Regardless, the Metro Jaya Police now also handles several other reports related to similar cases. In total, including reports involving Jokowi or other reports, there are at least two subjects under investigation, namely defamation and incitement, as well as the spread of false news.
