Police Officer Sitting in the Case Asks Jakarta License for Xpannder Driver, Metro Police Says It Was a Mistake to Speak
The Shiro Copr - The truth behind the viral video of a police officer asking for a Jakarta license from a Xpander driver.
It turned out that the police officer had spoken incorrectly.
This was clarified by the Director of Traffic (Dirlantas) of Polda Metro Jaya, Police Commissioner Komarudin.
Metro Jaya Regional Police spoke out regarding the viral incident that occurred on JORR KM 17 on Saturday (7/12/2025).
In the incident, a Xpander driver was checked by police officer Aiptu Tarmono, but showed a blue license plate, which is not an official license issued by the Republic of Indonesia Police (Polri) for civilian drivers.
Director of Traffic, Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Komarudin, confirmed that blue licenses are usually issued by the Military Police (POM) TNI for military service vehicles.
"The SIM does not have the TNI inscription, but its color is blue. Usually, the SIM from the TNI POM includes the TNI identity and a photo," explained Komarudin when met at Polda Metro Jaya on Friday (18/7/2025).
However, according to Komarudin, the Xpander vehicle driven by the woman used a civilian license plate, not a TNI military license plate.
This incident became widely discussed after the recording of the conversation between Aiptu Tarmono and the driver went viral on social media.
In the video, the officer briefly mentioned the term "SIM Jakarta," which made the public curious and caused confusion.
Komarudin emphasized that the term emerged due to a misstatement by the staff. "It was purely a slip of the tongue from our member. The actual intention was 'SIM A,' but what was spoken was 'SIM Jakarta,'" he said.
The mispronunciation once made Aiptu Tarmono a subject of mockery on social media, but later he clarified his request to the driver.
Although asked to show her driver's license, the female driver did not present it. However, Aiptu Tarmono allowed her to continue her journey.
Responding to the viral video, the Internal Security Division (Paminal) of Polda Metro Jaya has conducted an investigation on Aiptu Tarmono.
As a result, no procedural violations were found on the part of the individual during their duty.
"Until today, there has been no indication of any violation committed by our members," said Komarudin, who previously served as Dirlantas of East Java Police.
Currently, the police focus is on efforts to reveal the identity of the driver who once showed the blue license plate.
This video was first uploaded by the Instagram account @jabodetabek24info, which took the source from the Threads account @leon_ferdinand. In the upload description, it is mentioned that the wife of the account owner was stopped on the toll road even though all documents such as the driver's license and vehicle registration were complete.
"Although there was no violation at all. The documents were complete, but they asked for 'SIM Jakarta,' he said," the account wrote.
Traffic Police Ticketing Car Drivers on the Toll Road
Police ticketing car drivers on the toll road became viral on social media, as they are suspected of receiving "sticker greetings."
The video showing the two police officers has flooded with criticism from netizens, one of which was uploaded by the Instagram account @depokinfo24jam on Monday (3/17/2025).
The incident is suspected to have occurred on one of the highways in Jakarta.
Continuing to go viral, the two police officers in the video were called by the Polda Metro Jaya. Similarly, the video recorder, whose initials are AH, was also called.
After that, AH apologized, because the video he uploaded caused a controversy.
Deputy Director of Traffic (Wardilantas) of Polda Metro Jaya, AKBP Argowiyono, revealed the chronology of the actions of two police officers in the video.
Argowiyono revealed that the viral event occurred on one of the Jakarta Inner City Toll Roads on Saturday (3/15/2025) at 11:30 WIB.
The chronology began when Road Police (PJR) officers from the Traffic Division of Polda Metro Jaya stopped a Suzuki Baleno car.
The vehicle was stopped because it violated the regulations regarding the expired Vehicle Registration Number (TNKB).
"Then the officers checked the documents of the offender, and indeed the vehicle documents were no longer valid," said Argowiyono, Monday (3/17/2025), quoted from Kompas.com.
So far, the Directorate of Traffic of Polda Metro Jaya has summoned the two police officers, Bripka F and Briptu E, to clarify this viral incident.
The Directorate of Traffic, Polda Metro Jaya also confronted the statements of two police officers with the offender, namely IC.
"Indeed, there is no abuse in the form of money requests from officers or other matters carried out by members," he emphasized.
Therefore, Argowiyono emphasized that Bripka R and Briptu E have carried out their duties in a procedural manner.
"Then we also confirmed with the video poster under the name of Brother AH, where the motive was merely trying to take a photo with the mobile phone camera," said Argowiyono.
In the video, two police officers are stopping a black car driver.
The two police officers led the car driver to the side of the road.
Then, one of the police officers was seen talking to the car driver.
A few moments later, the driver approached the person sitting in the passenger seat of his car.
A person inside the car appeared to hand an item from his wallet to the driver.
Then, the car driver approached the two police officers again and handed over the item he had received earlier.
A police officer who did not wear a hat then ignored the instruction.
Then, the policeman wearing a hat approached the car driver and patted his shoulder.
At the end of the video, the car driver and both police officers return to their respective cars.
