Immigration and Corrections Minister Agus Andrianto stated that thousands of detainees will receive remission on the occasion of National Children's Day, July 23, 2025. This remission will be given to those who have met the administrative and substantive requirements.
And he said, there are 1,272 children who have met the requirements and have been proposed to receive child remission.
We hope that granting remission to this child will further encourage them to study harder and develop their talents and skills. There is always a second chance, second chance, "For a brighter future. A future for Golden Indonesia," said Agus in his statement on Monday (21/7).
Agus said, this child's case is a special concern. Including the education and guidance of the child at the Special Child Rehabilitation Institution (LPKA).
"In a few days, we will commemorate National Children's Day. Do not forget the children who are currently in training institutions. It is our duty, but this is also everyone's responsibility. We also invite all of us to educate them, because they are an important part of our beloved country Indonesia's generation," he said.
Agus explained that the treatment system for children in LPKA is certainly different from that of adult inmates.
"For children, we place more emphasis on education, both formal and informal. They continue to attend school while in LPKA, at the primary, junior high, and senior high levels, as well as Program A, B, and C," he said.
Minister Agus also mentioned that many graduates from LPKA have succeeded and become successful by continuing their education and college studies with the diploma they obtained from LPKA.
"Even some of them have succeeded in getting jobs and becoming independent. This proves that with the right and continuous education and training, as well as collaboration with various relevant parties, both government and NGOs (Non Government Organization)," he said.
In the same statement, the Director General of Corrections, Mashudi, mentioned that the number of inmates in Indonesia is currently 2,096 people, with 1,376 located in LPKA and the rest in Prisons, Detention Centers, and Women's Prisons.
"Besides formal and informal education, children in the institution are also given education and guidance for developing talents and skills, whether in arts, sports or life skills. All types of education we provide for children, so they can become a quality generation," he said.
