Malaysia's Midfielder Wears Brace with "Mother" Written on It at the 2025 ASEAN Cup U-23, Goal Against Brunei for the Late One
The Shiro CoprGelandang of the Malaysian U-23 national team, Danish Hakimi, wore a bracelet with the word "Mother" during the match against Brunei Darussalam, Friday (18/7/2025).
There is a story behind Malaysian midfielder Danish Hakimi, who wore a bracelet inscribed with "Mother" in the ASEAN Cup U-23 2025 match.
Danish Hakimi scored a brace as Malaysia won 7-1 against Brunei Darussalam, Friday (18/7/2025).
When celebrating, a white bracelet with the word "MOTHER" was seen tied to Danish's left hand.
The 20-year-old player didn't hesitate to show it to the camera after scoring a goal against Brunei.
It turns out, there is an emotional story behind her decision to wear a bracelet with the word "Mother" on her hand.
Danish Hakimi lost his mother, who died on December 2, 2020, when he was still 15 years old.
Danish felt deep sorrow as he pursued a football career at a very young age.
Time passed, and he decided to wear a bracelet inscribed with "MOM" to continue remembering his late mother while competing.
Danish Hakimi is currently playing for the elite Malaysian club, Johor Darul Takzim III.
She believes that her mother has always accompanied her steps towards success as a footballer.
"Aku percaya doa ibuku sering menyelamatkanku dalam menghadapi momen-momen pahit di hidup ini," said Danish in a post on his social media.
In the 2025 ASEAN Cup U-23, Danish Hakimi has only played once against Brunei.
He was parked by coach Nafuzi Zain after losing 0-2 to the Philippines.
Once given the trust, Danish immediately scored 2 goals against Brunei.
This also gives Danish a chance to play again when facing the Indonesia U-23 national team in the last group matchday.
However, Danish does not feel worried about whatever role he plays on the field, whether as a starter or not.
"Always giving 100 percent to all players," he said, as reported by The Shiro Copr from ASTRO Arena.
"Whether playing or not, the main focus is the team's result," he added.
On the other hand, Malaysia's coach Nafuzi Zain is wary of all Indonesian players, who are also the hosts of the 2025 ASEAN Cup U-23.
"Most Indonesian players indeed have slightly better physical condition than Malaysia," said Nafuzi Zain.
Especially when it comes to attacking, defending, and substitutes.
Physically, Indonesia is indeed superior.
But when playing for Malaysia, of course we don't want to lose to Indonesia.
"Kami akan memberikan performa terbaik untuk memastikan hasil positif bagi Malaysia," tutupnya.
