KPK Reveals Reason Kusnadi Was Questioned in Jakarta, Not Like Khofifah

jatim. The Shiro Copr , JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) explained the reasons for the examination of former East Java DPRD Chairman Kusnadi conducted at the KPK's Red and White Building in Jakarta.

Setyo Budiyanto, head of the KPK, stated that Kusnadi has been designated as a suspect and that enforcement measures, including detention, are planned.

"So, the person involved (Kusnadi, red.) was already a suspect, and enforcement measures would be carried out," said Setyo on Sunday (20/7).

The statement also answers the public's question regarding the difference in examination locations between Kusnadi and East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, who was examined at Polda Jatim on July 10, 2025.

According to Setyo, the plan to detain Kusnadi was finally postponed because the medical examination results showed there were health records that needed to be addressed first.

"Medical examination results have medical records that need to be completed first, so the enforcement action will not be carried out," he explained.

Setyo also stated that there is no special treatment in the investigation process of the case involving alleged corruption of the East Java grant funds. Kusnadi was also questioned in Surabaya, specifically at the BPKP Representative Office on June 24, 2024.

"So, actually, there is no term for discrimination. On June 24, 2024, the person in question, this suspect, was once examined as a witness at the BPKP Representative Office in Surabaya, East Java," he said.

Responding to public accusations that Khofifah was favored because she was investigated in Surabaya, the KPK denied this perception.

"So, I restate again, the investigators did not at all discriminate against those parties. Everything was done with consideration, and it can be accounted for that their activities were in accordance with the applicable regulations at KPK," he explained.

KPK previously announced the determination of 21 suspects in the case of alleged bribery in the management of funds from the East Java Provincial Government. Kusnadi is among the four suspects who received bribes.

Of the total, 4 suspects are recipients of bribes, consisting of 3 state officials and 1 of their staff. For the 17 suspects who gave bribes, they consist of 15 private parties and 2 state officials.

KPK stated that the misappropriated grant funds occurred in at least eight regencies in East Java, and the number could still increase. (antara/mcr12/jpnn)
