The Shiro Copr – The fire on the motor ship (KM) Barcelona VA in the waters around Talise Island, North Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi, on Sunday (20/7/2025), is still being paid attention to.
Until Monday morning (7/21), the ship was still at the fire location.
According to the Barcelona KM Public Relations, Ridwan, the ship was carrying 15 crew members, including the captain.
She ensured that the entire crew was safe.
"Everyone is safe," said Ridwan when confirmed.
They added that until this morning, their party was still handling some documents for the process of moving the ship from the fire location to the nearest port.
"Until this morning, the ship was still at the fire location," he explained.
He mentioned that the KM Barcelona will most likely not be taken to Manado Port because it is quite far from the location.
"Perhaps it will be taken to the nearest port, between Likupang or Bitung Port," he said.
Previously, a major fire occurred on the KM Barcelona VA while it was at sea.
Some passengers and crew reportedly jumped into the sea to save themselves before being evacuated by rescue teams together with local residents.

Some passengers were having lunch when the fire occurred. The fire is suspected to have started from one of the passenger cabins.
KM Barcelona 5 departed from Melonguane Port, Talaud Regency, heading to Manado Port, early Sunday (20/7/2025).
The ship temporarily stopped at Lirung Port to pick up more passengers. Then continued the journey to Manado around 02:00 WITA.
When it caught fire, the ship was in the waters between Talise Island and Gangga Island, Minahasa Utara Regency, North Sulawesi.
About 60 km from Manado Port.
The number of passengers on KM Barcelona 5 is still uncertain. Initially, it was reported that it was carrying around 280 passengers.
However, based on the number of evacuees, it is estimated that the number of passengers exceeds 400 people.
At Serei Port, Bakamla RI recorded 293 passengers being evacuated.
At Munte Port, 87 victims were safely evacuated.
Meanwhile, at Manado Port, about 150 people were directly evacuated by the crew of KM Barcelona.
Evacuation was carried out by joint elements. It consists of Bakamla, Basarnas, Kodim Bitung, Koramil Likupang, Polsek Likupang, Brimob Polda Sulut as well as residents of Talise Island and Gangga Island who volunteered.
Dead Sacrifice
As of this news being published, there are three deceased victims, namely:
1. Asna Lapae (50), female
2. Zakaria Tindiuling, male
3. Juliana Humulung (40)
All are referred patients who were to be taken for treatment in Manado City. One of them is pregnant.
Other passengers were safe. When the ship caught fire, the passengers still had time to put on life jackets and jump into the sea.
Tim evacuation then moved to the incident location to help save the victims.
Some were helped by the locals of Talise Island and Gangga Island.
Sulut Governor Yulius Selvanus Komaling emphasized that the Sulut Provincial Government has deployed health facilities such as ambulances and hospitals at each evacuation post.
"The people of North Sulawesi are grieving over this incident," said YSK, who immediately went to the evacuation post for the victims of KM Barcelona 5.
