KAI Logistics Supports the Halal Ecosystem, Ronggowarsito Cargo Terminal in Semarang is in the Certification Process

The Shiro Copr - PT Kereta Api Logistik (KAI Logistik) once again strengthens its commitment to supporting the national halal logistics ecosystem by accelerating the addition of halal-certified terminals by 2025. This step is part of the company's strategy to provide logistics services that are not only reliable, but also meet specific customer needs for the distribution of halal products, in line with regulations set by the government.
Previously, KAI Logistik has officially obtained a halal certificate from the Halal Product Guarantee Agency (BPJPH) with ID number 00410018283070424 on June 14, 2024, for distribution services. This certification covers three main terminals, namely Sungai Lagoa Goods Terminal Area, Klari Goods Terminal Area, and Kalimas Goods Terminal Area.
This year, KAI Logistik aims to add one halal-certified terminal, namely the Ronggowarsito Cargo Terminal in Semarang, with the target of completing the certification process in the third quarter of 2025. The CEO of KAI Logistik, Fredi Firmansyah, stated that in 2025, they are expanding the halal certification to Ronggowarsito Terminal, and in the future, it is not ruled out that all logistics terminals could obtain halal certification.
"This is part of our long-term vision to ensure customer confidence, especially in the distribution of halal products in accordance with the Ministerial Decree Number 748 of 2021 and Number 944 of 2024," he said in a written statement on Thursday (7/17).
The addition of halal-certified service points by KAI Logistik not only provides a guarantee of sharia compliance for customers in the halal sector, such as food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and other fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG). It also strengthens the company's position as a strategic logistics partner capable of supporting the smooth supply chain of halal products. end-to-end, Good for domestic and export markets.
Furthermore, Fredi emphasized that KAI Logistik is committed to supporting the fulfillment of national regulations regarding the halal certification obligations that will be fully implemented starting in 2026. This is as stipulated in Government Regulation No. 42 of 2024 concerning Halal Product Assurance, as well as Presidential Regulation No. 6 of 2023 concerning the National Halal Ecosystem.
In addition to upholding the values of compliance with halal standards, the use of railway mode in KAI Logistik services also has a positive impact on the environment. The utilization of railway mode in the logistics supply chain has been proven to be more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly compared to road-based transportation.
A container train set can carry 30 flatcars or equivalent to 60 trucks with a capacity of 20 tons. Thus, shifting the load from road transport to railway can significantly reduce the amount of carbon emissions produced.
"KAI Logistik continues to commit to being a pioneer in halal-based, efficient, and sustainable logistics services, and is ready to support the government in building Indonesia as a halal industry center," added Fredi.
Agus Suryanto, as the Head of the Halal Examination Agency (LPH) PT Sucofindo, expressed his appreciation for KAI Logistik's commitment. "KAI Logistik demonstrates seriousness in ensuring the halal logistics ecosystem. In this regard, KAI Logistik plays an important role in ensuring the distribution of products complies with halal principles. They are also the first state-owned enterprise in the logistics sector to actively carry out the halal certification process," stated Agus.
This service improvement also aligns with the growth trend of container transportation through the railway mode in the past three years. Data from 2022 to 2024 shows a recovery and stable growth trend, with an average annual increase of more than 10 percent.
Indeed, 2024 recorded the highest container transportation volume in the last five years, with a volume achievement of 2.3 million tons. This reflects the increasing customer confidence in the railway mode as a reliable and efficient logistics option. This situation presents great opportunities for KAI Logistik to provide value-added services, including guarantees of integrity in the distribution process.
