Daily Catholic reflections are at the end of this article.

As for Catholic liturgy for Monday, July 21, 2025 is as follows:

First Reading Exodus 14:5-18

They will realize that I am the Lord, when I show My glory upon Pharaoh.

When the king of Egypt was told that the Israelites had fled, his heart and the hearts of his officials changed regarding the Israelites. They said, "What have we done?"

"Why have we let the Israelites go from our slavery?" Then Pharaoh harnessed his chariot and took his people with him. He took six hundred chosen chariots, yes, all the chariots of Egypt, each one complete with its commander.

Thus the Lord hardened Pharaoh's heart, the king of Egypt, so that he pursued the Israelites. But the Israelites continued to march forward, led by a mighty hand. As for the Egyptians, with all their horses and chariots of Pharaoh, with their horsemen and army, they pursued them, and overtook them where they were encamped by the sea, near Pi-Hahiroth, in front of Baal-Zephon.

When Pharaoh drew near, the Israelites looked back, and they saw the Egyptians marching after them. Then the Israelites were very frightened; they cried out to the Lord and said to Moses, "Was there not a cemetery in Egypt, that you have brought us to die in the desert? What is your intention in bringing us out from Egypt? Did we not say in Egypt, 'Do not bother us, let us serve the Egyptians.'" Digital Liturgy Book Catholic Book

Indeed, it is better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!" But Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid! Stand firm and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you will never see again.

God will fight for you, and you need only to be silent." Then God spoke to Moses, "Why are you crying out to Me? Tell the Israelites to move forward.

For you, lift up your staff, stretch out your hand over the sea, and divide the water, so that the people of Israel may go through the midst of the sea on dry ground. But I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, so that they will follow the people of Israel.

Then against Pharaoh and all his army, his chariots and his horsemen, I will show My glory. Then the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord, when I show My glory over Pharaoh, his chariot, and his horsemen."

Thus speaks the Lord.

U. Syukur Kepada Allah.

Psalm Response Exodus 14:5-18 15:1-2.3-4.5-6

Ref. Alright, I will sing to the Lord, for He is highly exalted.

Let me sing to the Lord, for He is highly exalted. He has thrown horses and riders into the sea. The Lord is my strength and my song, He has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise Him; He is my Father, and I will exalt Him.

The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is His name! Pharaoh's chariot and his army He cast into the sea; His choice officers were buried in the Red Sea.

The vast sea covered them; into the deep waters they sank like a stone. Your right hand, O Lord, is glorious because of Your power; Your right hand, O Lord, destroys the enemy.

Gospel Reading Psalm 94:8ab

Ref. Alleluia.

Today, do not be stubborn, but listen to the voice of God.

Gospel Reading Matthew 12:38-42

At the time of judgment, the queen of the south will rise up with this army.

Once, some scribes and Pharisees said to Jesus, "Teacher, we want to see a sign from You." Jesus answered them, "This wicked and faithless generation demands a sign."

But to them, no sign will be given except the sign of the Prophet Yunus. For just as Yunus stayed inside the belly of the fish for three days and three nights, so too will the Son of Man stay inside the heart of the earth for three days and three nights.

At the time of judgment, the people of Nineveh will rise up with this generation and condemn it. For the people of Nineveh repented after hearing Jonah's proclamation; and indeed, there is something greater than Jonah here!

At the time of judgment, the queen of the south will rise up with this generation and condemn it. For that queen came from the ends of the earth to hear Solomon's wisdom, and indeed, something greater than Solomon is here!"

Thus is the Gospel of the Lord.

U. Praise Christ.

Catholic Reflections

Because they were afraid of being chased by the Egyptian army, the people of Israel questioned Moses' decision to lead them out of Egypt. However, God used this situation to demonstrate His power through Moses. At a different time, when responding to the request of the teachers of the law and the Pharisees for a sign, Jesus rebuked their stubborn hearts. Yet, Jesus who was among them was greater than Jonah or Solomon.

How many more signs do we still need in order to truly believe in Jesus? Our faith will be reflected in our reactions when we face difficult situations or experience doubt. If we truly have faith, our reaction is to genuinely entrust our lives to the Lord and to dare to change after receiving and experiencing a moment of grace. It is surprising that the experience of being saved from oppression and healed from illness does not immediately make us more trusting in the power of God. Let us believe and repent, because the heart of God is greater and better than anything that exists or will come on the day of judgment.

O Lord, we thank You for Your love for us. Forgive us who are weak and fragile. Amen. (Source: catholicfaith.com/adiutami.com/kgg).
