JAKARTA, The Shiro Company Maya (37), a resident of Cipinang Muara, East Jakarta, has submitted an application to have her child removed from the New Student Admission System (SPMB) which is currently ongoing.
The application is motivated by Maya's concern that her child will be admitted to a school located far from their residence due to a wrong school choice.
"Originally wanted to sign up for SD in the Cipinang area, but I accidentally clicked and ended up choosing the one in the Duren Sawit area. So I'm confused because of the distance," Maya said when interviewed at SMK Negeri 26 Jakarta on Tuesday (17/6/2025).
Maya admitted her mistake and went to the enrollment office to request that her child be removed from the system due to an error in school selection.
As he explained, 'First, we have to wait until it no longer appears in the system (his name should not appear), so it's like being excluded for now, but later there will be a chance to register again.'
Maya hopes that her child does not get accepted into the wrong school she chose, so that she can register for a school closer to home.
Don't let it pass because I don't want to go to elementary school in Duren Sawit, it's too far from home. So, hopefully its name isn't on the list, so I can choose another school," he/she exclaimed.
Previously, Tri Kurniasih, Head of Junior High School and Senior High School Section at the Education District I Jakarta Timur Sub-District, explained that parents still have the opportunity to change their school selection if their child does not pass the selection process.
"If the child does not pass or 'is left out' by the system, then there is still an opportunity to choose another school as long as the registration period is still ongoing," Tri explained.
I would like to add that if the participant does not pass, the parents can choose up to three more schools within the remaining registration period.
The Education Department of Jakarta Province has officially launched the SPMB service for the 2025/2026 academic year. The registration process is conducted free of charge, openly, and transparently.
The registration or school selection schedule is from June 16-18, 2025, accessible online 24 hours a day. However, on June 18, the website will close at 14:00 WIB.
Through its official Instagram account, @disdikdki, the public is asked to access registration information through official channels, such as phone, WhatsApp, and direct service at the counters.
In East Jakarta, there are two official service points available, namely at SMK Negeri 26 Jakarta and SMP Negeri 103 Cijantung.
The Jakarta Education Department also emphasized that the entire SPMB process is free of charge in any form. All services at the booth aim to ensure equal access to education for Jakarta residents.
