PALANGKA RAYA — As many as 1000 UIN Palangka Raya 6th semester students participated in a Hajj simulation activity by wearing ihram clothing on Tuesday (06/17/2025).
This event is the culmination of a series of Hajj preparation guidance sessions that have been ongoing for three days, from June 15 to 17, 2025, in collaboration with the Ministry of Religion of Central Kalimantan Province.
For students to practice the entire series of Hajj rituals that they have previously studied theoretically.
The simulation is designed to resemble the atmosphere in the Holy Land, starting from departure from the hotel in Medina, miqat, to the hotel in Mecca, wukuf in Arafah, mabit in Muzdalifah, stoning the jamarat, first tahallul, tawaf around the Ka'bah, up to sa'i.
The students appeared enthusiastic as they carried out each stage of the worship ritual while wearing ihram clothing and using props that had been prepared by the organizing committee beforehand.
"We want the students not only to understand theoretically, but also to experience directly the atmosphere of the Hajj, even in the form of a simulation. It is hoped that this becomes important preparation for them if they ever perform the actual Hajj or Umrah," said one of the mentors, H. Akhmad Kartapati, M.AP.
The Rector of UIN Palangka Raya, Prof. Dr. H. Ahmad Dakhoir, M.H.I., stated that the Hajj pilgrimage is not only a religious ritual but also an extremely important means of character education.
I will exemplify the values contained in the story of Hajar when she ran between Safa and Marwah (Sa'i).
"Through the story of Siti Hajar's perseverance and hard work in searching for water for her son, we learn about the spirit of never giving up and selflessness in striving. These are the values we want to instill in our students," said the rector.
He also emphasized that moving forward, this manasik practice will become an integrated part of the Curriculum for the Practice of Worship Implementation (PPI) at UIN Palangka Raya.
Participants who follow the manasik practice from beginning to end will receive a certificate as a sign of their active participation.
Iqbal, a 6th semester student participating in the counseling session, stated that this activity is very beneficial. "Through this manasik, I gained a clearer understanding of the procedures for performing the Hajj, from the intention to the tahallul. Hopefully, programs like this can continue for future students," he said.
During the two days prior, students had received various materials related to the implementation of Hajj and Umrah. The materials cover aspects of spirituality, ritual practices, to technical implementation of worship in the holy land.
This event also featured an interactive Q&A session. During this opportunity, the Rector of UIN Palangka Raya, Prof. Dr. H. Ahmad Dakhoir, M.H.I, gave appreciation to several students who correctly answered questions in the form of a free passport processing prize. (hms/b/ram)
