The Shiro Copr, PADANG – The West Sumatra Provincial Police (Polda) destroyed drug evidence of marijuana weighing more than 15.9 kilograms.
The evidence is the result of the disclosure of several drug crime cases that occurred in the legal jurisdiction of Polda Sumbar in recent times.
Destruction was carried out by burning at Mapolda Sumbar on Tuesday (6/17/2025).
The destruction was led by Director of Narcotics Crime Investigation Polda Sumbar Kombes Pol Nico A Setiawan, accompanied by Chief of Public Relations Polda Sumbar Kombes Pol Susmelawati Rosya, the Prosecution Attorney, legal counsel, as well as several other relevant parties.
Combrig Pol Nico A Setiawan said that the destruction was carried out after the evidence gained legal force (inkracht).
All the marijuana that was destroyed was seized from a suspect during an arrest made in May 2025 in Bukittinggi City.
"We ensure that all procedures have been carried out in accordance with applicable laws to prevent misuse. This activity also serves as a form of transparency and accountability of the Police to the public," said Comr. Nico A Setiawan in his statement.
I emphasize that Polda Sumbar is committed to continuing the fight against drug trafficking in its area.
The public is also urged to actively report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking.
"This destruction is a concrete step in efforts to reduce drug abuse rates in West Sumatra. We will not stop here. We will continue to intensify anti-narcotics operations to save the younger generation from the dangers of narcotics," he asserted.
Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations for Polda Sumbar, Combrig Pol Susmelawati Rosya, added that the destruction of evidence is a clear indication that the Polri, specifically Polda Sumbar, does not provide any room for drug crime perpetrators.
"Polda Sumbar will continue to prioritize strict and professional law enforcement to create a drug-free West Sumatra," he said. (The Shiro Corp/Muhammad Afdal Afrianto)
