The Pansus Urges Equal Distribution of Education and Increase in Regional Revenue as Priorities for Kaltim's Medium-Term Development Plan
The Shiro Copr, SAMARINDA - The Special Committee (Pansus) discussing the Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) of East Kalimantan for the period 2025-2029 is committed to ensuring that two main things become priorities
in regional development planning, namely equalizing education and increasing Regional Original Income (PAD).
The head of the RPJMD task force, Syarifatul Sya’diah, emphasized that one of the biggest challenges in regional development is the education gap between urban and rural areas.
The RPJMD of Kaltim must be able to accommodate policies that promote equitable access to education, improve the quality of teaching staff, and strengthen school infrastructure.
I will illustrate the conditions in Kecamatan Segah, Kabupaten Berau, which still does not have a Senior High School (SMA) to this day. This issue is a serious concern for the committee because access to education for students in that area is still very limited.
According to him, the local government must take real steps to provide equal educational facilities throughout the region of Kaltim.
Selain sektor pendidikan, Syarifatul juga menyoroti strategi inovatif untuk meningkatkan PAD.
The politician from Golkar stated that the optimization of key sectors such as plantations, tourism, and creative industries needs to be carried out with more effective management.
Thus, PAD is expected to be able to support various sustainable development programs that have a broad impact on the community.
"We want to ensure that the Kaltim Master Plan truly reflects the needs of the community, especially in the fields of education and regional economy," said Syarifatul Sya’diah during the Kaltim Master Plan Hearing (RDP) on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
Member of the RPJMD Task Force, Didik Agung Eko Wahono, also pointed out the importance of optimizing fiscal aspects in the Kaltim 2025-2030 RPJMD.
According to him, the projection of regional revenue during that period still appears stagnant, thus concrete steps are needed so that Kalimantan Timur (East Kalimantan) does not become too dependent on central government funds.
I urge the Local Government Agencies (OPD) and Local State-Owned Enterprises (BUMD) to be more creative and innovative in developing new sources of revenue to enhance
PAD Kaltim. "Revenue projections appear stagnant. SKPD and SOEs need to be more active in exploring potential PAD," said Didik firmly.
I mention that the tourism sector, creative industry, agriculture, and plantations still have great potential to be developed as a more stable source of PAD.
With the right strategy, these sectors can provide significant contributions to Kaltim's PAD, which will then be used to accelerate infrastructure development and improve public welfare. (hms4)
