Reporter's Report by Miftahul Munir from Wartakotalive.com
The Shiro Copr, CIPAYUNG - A man wearing a jacket and hat was caught on camera breaking into a convenience store on Jalan Kampung Kramat Setu, Cipayung, East Jakarta, Tuesday (6/17/2025) early morning.
In the CCTV footage, the perpetrator casually opens the lock using a liquid.
Once opened, the chain entangling the door is pulled slowly to avoid raising suspicion.
The man then entered the ruko and approached the display of merchandise.
The perpetrator then took hundreds of packs of cigarettes of various brands as well as loose change from inside the showcase.
Not only that, the perpetrator was also carrying five gas cylinders. After stealing, the perpetrator closed the roller door of the shop again.
Endang, the owner of the warung, recounted that the first time the burglary was discovered was by his child around 05:00 WIB.
"My ID card, I wanted to pray Subuh, suddenly my child screamed that the warung was being robbed. He knew when he saw the CCTV that there was an intruder entering, he seemed very calm like he owned the warung," Endang explained on Wednesday (17/6/2025).
The 52-year-old woman explained that the perpetrator acted alone around 01:10 WIB.
In just a few minutes, the perpetrator had already left his shack.
Endang stated that the owner of the neighboring meatball restaurant heard the sound of the gas cylinder being removed.
However, his neighbors were too afraid to come out because they were scared of the perpetrator.
At first, when I just arrived, I thought it was my neighbor. Then, when the perpetrator was taking out the gas cylinder, my neighbor peeked and it turned out not to be me. He wanted to scream but was afraid, you know, because I am a woman and also alone next door," she explained.
The perpetrator's action was acknowledged by Endang as quite daring because at that time, there was still heavy traffic in front of his shop.
I have also reported to the local RT head to get information if they know the perpetrator of the warung robbery.
"It doesn't seem like they're from around here. Because I also live up there not far from here. Where there's opportunity, crime takes place," he explained.
Endang suspects that the perpetrator had already drawn a diagram of his shop before carrying out the action.
Because, Endang often sleeps at the shop and it has always been safe.
"This is a new shop house, it's been around for about two months. My wife and I are just starting our business. Before, there was a cafe in front which made it very busy, but now the cafe has moved so it's only busy with passing vehicles," he said.
Endang has not reported this incident to Polsek Cipayung because the loss is only around Rp 3 million.
"The loss isn't significant, if we report it to the police, it will just cause more trouble," he added. (m26)
