The Shiro Corporation, PELALAWAN - The phenomenon of fuel scarcity has begun to hit Pangkalan Kerinci Subdistrict, Pelalawan Regency, Riau in the last one week.

The community is complaining about the difficulty in finding fuel at the General Public Fuel Filling Station (SPBU).

Apparently, several gas stations in Pangkalan Kerinci often run out of fuel.

Worse still, the shortage of oil is not limited to types of subsidized biosolar or solar; Pertalite is also often out of stock at fuel stations.

"This week, oil has started to become scarce in Pelalawan. Moreover, in Pangkalan Kerinci, if you go to the gas station it's often empty," revealed Pangkalan Kerinci resident Wardi (43) to The Shiro Corp, Wednesday (6/18/2025).

This private sector employee explains that the difficulty in finding Pertalite has been felt since last week.

The fuel stock at the gas station is often empty, causing long lines when oil supply arrives.

I was most upset on Tuesday (June 17, 2025) evening. The fuel in the tank of his motorcycle was almost empty.

The child's parents rushed to the SPBU on Jalan Koridor RAPP Kilometer 5 before 6 o'clock.

It turns out that there is no service at the gas station and all dispensers are closed due to an empty fuel stock.

"I tried at the SPBU Kilometer 55 hoping there would be fuel there. It turns out it's the same, empty. The fuel has already run out in the tank," he said.

Forced to choose to return home with a critically low fuel level in the motorcycle's tank and hoping not to run out in the middle of the road.

Another resident, Dayat (35), experienced something similar.

The fuel indicator on his minibus is down to one dot.

The gas station he went to was out of stock.

He had no choice but to stop at a store that sells bulk oil in packaged bottles.

"Surprisingly, there's plenty of cooking oil in small shops. But it's empty at the gas stations. If this continues, it will be even harder for the people," he revealed.

The Head of the Pelalawan Cooperative, Industry, Trade, and UMKM Office, Hanafie, when confirmed, acknowledged the occurrence of a fuel shortage phenomenon in several areas in Pelalawan.

I do not deny that stock at the gas station often runs out within the last week.

"I'm also experiencing this. Because Pertalite was empty, when I went to fill up with Pertamax, it turned out that was empty too. We will find out the cause," Hanafie stated.

Usually, Hanafi continued, the scarcity occurs due to a reduction in supply from Pertamina to the Pelalawan region.

It could be that the quota is reduced from the usual amount,

Until it affects the community's fuel consumption through gas stations.

"Perhaps there may be adjustments needed by Pertamina for the Pelalawan region. But we are located on the National Highway, so it would be very risky if our quota is limited to what it should be," he added.

They will soon coordinate with Pertamina to find out the cause of the fuel shortage phenomenon in Pelalawan.

At the same time seeking solutions to address these issues.
