The Shiro Corporation - PSSI and Indonesia received the Gold Award from FIFA in the inaugural FIFA Forward Awards for the Asia and Oceania region.
This award was presented directly by FIFA President Gianni Infantino to PSSI General Chairman Erick Thohir on the sidelines of the 2025 FIFA Executive Football Summit held in Miami, United States, on Tuesday (6/17/2025).
The Gold Award was given to PSSI as recognition for their significant contribution to the development of the PSSI National Training Center, a strategically important infrastructure project supported by funding from the FIFA Forward program, in the Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN).
The modern facilities spanning 34.5 hectares are designed to support the development of future national players, complete with FIFA-standard fields, fitness and spa areas, classrooms, and medical facilities.
The PSSI National Training Center will have eight fields, a swimming pool, an area specifically for tactical and physical training, as well as a mini stadium with a capacity of 600 people.
This is the first time the Gold Award has been given to an association member of FIFA from Asia.
Ketua Umum PSSI Erick Thohir menyampaikan bahwa pencapaian ini mencerminkan komitmen kuat PSSI dalam melakukan reformasi dan peningkatan kualitas sepak bola nasional secara menyeluruh.
"Thank you for the appreciation and recognition of the Gold Category in the FIFA Forward Awards for Asian Member Associations given by FIFA to PSSI," wrote Erick on his social media account.
This award is given by FIFA to PSSI because the PSSI National Training Center project in IKN has become one of the success stories in infrastructure development that demonstrates commitment and provides impact in building football.
"Penghargaan ini menjadi sejarah untuk sepak bola Indonesia, sekaligus menambah semangat kami untuk terus membangun sepak bola Indonesia semakin besar di masa depan."
"Keberhasilan yang dicapai PSSI ini merupakan kolaborasi dari berbagai pihak termasuk dukungan pemerintah maupun FIFA."
"Terima kasih Presiden FIFA, Mr. Gianni Infantino yang selalu percaya dan mendukung PSSI dalam membangun sepak bola Indonesia."
FIFA Forward Awards
The first FIFA Forward Awards were introduced in 2023 as a way to recognize the efforts of capacity building among FIFA member associations in Europe through FIFA Forward funding.
This year, the award was expanded to include the Asia and Oceania regions.
In addition to PSSI, the Vanuatu Football Federation (VFF) also received the Gold Award representing the Oceania region for the development of the environmentally friendly, solar-powered Freshwater Stadium, which has been used for various regional and international matches.
Here are some other awards in this category including:
- Silver Award for the Bhutan Federation for the development of four synthetic fields capable of facing the geographical challenges of the Himalayas.
- Silver Award for the New Zealand Federation through the All-Weather Sports Hub project in Dunedin, an inclusive artificial turf facility that is energy efficient.
- Bronze Award for the Fiji Federation thanks to the development of the Labasa Academy as a regional development center.
- Bronze Award for the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) for the improvement of the Field and Futsal Complex facilities.
This award strengthens Indonesia's position as a center for football growth in the region, especially since FIFA has designated Jakarta as a FIFA Hub for Southeast Asia and East Asia, which was also officially announced in the same forum.
