JAKARTA, The Shiro Company - The Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) is still waiting for who will officially register as the candidate chairman (caketum) in the PSI Congress to be held in July 2025.
One of the names awaited is the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
The spokesperson for PSI as well as the Secretary of the Steering Committee Congress, Beny Papa, revealed that they have received news that there will be new registrants in the near future.
However, he has not been able to confirm the identity of that person.
"And we have learned that tomorrow or on Thursday, there will be registrations for candidates for chairman. We will inform everyone later about who they are," Beny said when interviewed at the PSI DPP office in Jakarta on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
I hereby convey that the internal consolidation process is still ongoing, especially at the level of the Regional Leadership Council (DPW) and the Local Leadership Council (DPD).
The registration for prospective candidates for the chairperson is still open until June 23, 2025.

When asked if the figure who would register was Jokowi, Beny was reluctant to give certainty.
However, he does not deny that the name of Jokowi has indeed become a hope within the PSI.
"But the process is that this process is narrowing down and once again that whoever registers, whether Mr. Jokowi consents to register later, we will wait," Beny said.
"As you all have heard for a while now, there is information that Mr. Jokowi will be involved in the process of electing the chairman, registering. Yes, we will wait to see if that is true or not," Beny continued.
From Jokowi's side, the discussion on being a presidential candidate for PSI is still in the consideration stage.
When met in Solo, Central Java, on Friday (6/13/2025), Jokowi admitted to receiving support from several PSI provincial and district-level boards, but not yet in sufficient numbers.
"Yes, I haven't gone down yet, support from the DPW. The DPW is at the provincial level, then the DPD at the Regency or City level as well. One or two (support) already exist but it's not enough yet," said Jokowi.
She also stressed the importance of consolidation and assessing the strength of support ahead of the online voting system to be conducted.

The Secretary General of PSI Raja Juli Antoni confirmed that Jokowi is still calculating whether to run or not in the race for chairperson.
"Yes, I asked earlier, how is your father? Why did he say yesterday that he wanted to register as the head of PSI. Your father said, yes, I am still calculating. So there is no answer yet from him," said Raja Juli after meeting with Jokowi on Monday (May 26, 2025).
President Joko Widodo revealed that the name Jokowi indeed began to frequently appear in suggestions from various regions.
However, the final decision remains in the hands of the former Mayor of Solo.
"But once again, of course, he has the wisdom as a national figure. Whether it will align with PSI or remain a neutral figure at this current time," said Raja Juli.
For your information, Jokowi was once rumored to be slated as the Chairman of the General Leadership of PPP ahead of the 2025 Muktamar.
However, Jokowi clearly stated that he is not interested, and prefers to join the PSI if he wants to enter political parties.
PSI officially opened registration for potential candidates for the general chairman starting from May 13 last year until June 18, 2025.
However, the registration process has been extended until July 23, 2023.
Beny Papa explains that the entire registration process is carried out at the PSI Central Leadership Board (DPP) office.
Registration services are open every day from 09:00 to 18:00 WIB.
The candidate for general chairman must meet a special requirement in the form of support from the PSI regional management, namely 5 recommendations from the Regional Leadership Council (DPW) and 20 recommendations from the Regional Leadership Board (DPD).
The voting session for the election of the general chairman is scheduled to take place from July 12 to 19, 2025.
The selection process is carried out using an e-voting system, where each cadre has one vote.
The results of the general election will be announced simultaneously with the holding of the PSI Party Congress on July 19, 2025 in Solo, Central Java.
