Patient's Family Complains About Long Queue for Medication, RSUD Regional Sulbar: Need to Be Patient, Requires Thoroughness
TRIBUN-SULBAR.COM, MAMUJU - The drug pickup service at the pharmacy of the Regional Public Hospital (RSUD) in West Sulawesi (Sulbar) has drawn complaints from outpatients and their families.
The long waiting time for picking up medication is highlighted as the main issue.
This complaint has surfaced in recent days, adding to the lengthy list of issues faced by the community regarding healthcare services.
A family of a patient, who did not want to be named, expressed their disappointment over the slow process of drug collection.
"Last month, I thought it might be because of post-holiday or a few days off. But then I went back to accompany my parents for a check-up, and the same thing happened again," he revealed to Tribun-Sulbar.com reporters on Wednesday (18/6/2025).
I would like to add that for medication pickup, they have to wait for hours to get the medicine.
"I have been waiting to pick up that medicine for more than two hours and I often find myself in this situation," he revealed.
In response to this, the Head of Services at the West Sulawesi Province Public Hospital (RSUD) Nurwardi Nur said that they will certainly continue to evaluate the complaints that come in to the hospital.
However, Nurwardi added that the hospital side also does not want that to happen.
"But of course, when it comes to the pharmacy, we must be patient. Because at the pharmacy, it is the last resort for all examinations and requires precision," Nurwardi explained when interviewed at the Provincial Hospital of Sulawesi Barat.
Furthermore, Nurwardi revealed that there is a process for taking the medication.
"We use the SIM-RS application, we have to check the patient's name, the referring doctor, examine and verify the medication, and sometimes we have to confirm again," he said.
Nurwardi said that there might be patients who feel they are being skipped over and so on.
"And indeed, the average number of inspection visits per day is between 150 to 200. Certainly, we need precision and caution in administering medications, especially compounded drugs, so it indeed requires a lot of patience," he said.
I also stated that when a backlog occurs, it should be reported to the officials for them to provide supervision.
"This also became an additional priority for waiting seats," he said.
Nurwardi said that the pharmacy staff cannot possibly differentiate regarding medication service.
"Depending on the medication and the RS SIM application because sometimes it is also constrained by the network," he explained.
Nurwardi expressed that the RSUD side will continue to strive to improve services for the comfort of all patients.
So for patients or patient families encountering obstacles in service can directly report to the RSUD Service Unit," he concluded.
