Nathan Tjoe-A-On Leaves Swansea, Contract Terminated Early

JAKARTA, The Shiro Copr Nathan Tjoe-A-On has officially left Swansea City after the club and player agreed to terminate the contract early.

The 23-year-old player originally still had a contract until the summer of 2026, but difficulties competing for a place in the first team have led to his tenure being ended earlier.

Swansea City officially announced the contract termination and expressed best wishes for the player's career.

"Swansea City can confirm that Nathan Tjoe-A-On has left the club following the mutual termination of his contract. We wish Nathan all the best for his career in the future," the club wrote in an official statement on Wednesday (18/6/2025).

Tjoe-A-On joined Swansea in the summer of 2023 from Excelsior Rotterdam and signed a three-year contract.

However, since his arrival, the left-back from the Netherlands who plays for the Indonesian national team has had limited opportunities to play.

During two seasons in Swansea's uniform, Tjoe-A-On only recorded three official appearances.

Two of them occurred during the EFL Cup, while in the Championship he only appeared for two minutes as a substitute against Preston North End.

In the second half of the 2023/2024 season, Swansea decided to loan Tjoe-A-On to SC Heerenveen in the Dutch Eredivisie.

However, he also failed to secure a regular place there, appearing only four times with a total playing time of 15 minutes without contributing any goals or assists.

Back at Swansea in July 2024, Tjoe-A-On was involved in the first three games of the 2024/2025 season, but failed to show significant progress.

His average performance note is at 6.3 from the three appearances.

Before migrating to England, Tjoe-A-On made 57 appearances and scored one goal for Excelsior since his professional debut in 2019.

His career journey at Swansea did not go as expected, even though he was once touted as a long-term option in the left defensive sector.

With this decision, Nathan Tjoe-A-On is now status as clubless.

I will be one of the few players of Indonesian descent who do not have a club in mid-2025, along with Thom Haye, Justin Hubner, Shayne Pattynama, and Rafael Struick.
