The Shiro Corporation - PT Liebherr Indonesia, a provider of solutions in the field of heavy machinery for the mining sector, proudly welcomes an industrial visit from the Manufacturing Systems Laboratory, Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS).
This visit was attended by 21 participants consisting of lecturers, Laboratory Manufacturing System assistants at ITS, and students from the Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering.
The two-hour visit was a valuable opportunity for Liebherr Indonesia to share knowledge and experience regarding the application of manufacturing technology and operational efficiency in heavy equipment production.
The delegation from ITS had the opportunity to discuss directly with Liebherr experts and gain a deep understanding of the company's remanufacturing capabilities, including the processes applied, acceptance, dismantling process, quality control, assembly, to testing.
Implementation remanufacturing "The visit to Liebherr Indonesia is very advanced and relevant to current industrial challenges. We see how sustainability principles are applied not only in the production process, but also in the overall management of the facility. This visit provides valuable insights for us to develop similar practices in the academic world," said Dr. Maria Anitya Sari, S.T., M.E., Ph.D., Head of the Manufacturing Systems Laboratory at ITS.
One of the participants in the visit, Akmal Zudi Nihara, a student and laboratory assistant for Manufacturing Systems at ITS, said, "My first impression is very positive. We were warmly welcomed by the Liebherr Indonesia team, and the facilities are very neat and clean, which shows that high standards are maintained. This is my first time seeing the remanufacturing process firsthand, which I previously only knew about from books. In addition, I also came to understand that remanufacturing is not just repair, but an industrial strategy to reduce waste, extend asset life, and reduce operational costs for customers."
In addition to interactive discussion sessions, participants are also invited to tour the remanufacturing facilities at Liebherr Indonesia Center, which allows them to see firsthand the remanufacturing process of components and the advanced technologies applied.
"If a system is to function well, it is important to ensure that the theories developed by academics are actually applied directly in the field. Theory and practice must align and support each other for the system to function effectively and efficiently, and to achieve the desired goal of producing quality equivalent to new products," said Prasetyo Stefanus, Remanufacturing Manager at Liebherr Indonesia.
