The Shiro Corporation Hers Protex, the flagship sanitary pad brand from WINGS Care, once again collaborates with the Plan International Indonesia Foundation (YPII) to demonstrate its commitment to equalizing access to menstrual hygiene products and educating about healthy menstrual hygiene management for Indonesian women. This initiative is part of commemorating Menstrual Hygiene Day 2025.
As a tangible manifestation of this commitment, a total of 2,003 packs of Hers Protex Naturals Betel Leaf sanitary pads were donated to female teenagers in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The donation ceremony was officially opened by the Regent of Manggarai, Herybertus G. Nabit, S.E., M.A., at the Kumba Parish Hall in Ruteng, NTT (17/06). This donation is the result of the participation of more than 2,000 Indonesian women in the Hers Protex digital campaign titled #HersforHer.
Data from YPII in 2018 indicates that health literacy, particularly regarding reproductive health, remains low in Indonesia. As many as 63 percent of parents in Jakarta, West Nusa Tenggara, and East Nusa Tenggara have never explained menstruation to their children. Additionally, more than 50% of girls in East Nusa Tenggara do not have access to proper menstrual hygiene. Therefore, since 2024, Hers Protex has consistently shown its commitment to increasing awareness about the importance of menstrual hygiene management in Indonesia.
At the educational talkshow titled #HersforHer: Clean and Healthy Menstruation is the Right of All Women, Dr. Yohana Joni, Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology, explained the importance of maintaining menstrual hygiene and health for women. She also highlighted that unhealthy menstrual habits can lead to various health risks.
"Menstruation is part of the normal process of a woman's reproductive organs. Unfortunately, many women, especially in rural areas, change their pads less than twice a day. Unhealthy menstruation habits can lead to irritation up to urinary tract infections because menstrual blood can become a breeding ground for bacteria if not handled properly," Dr. Yohana explained.
In response to the issue, Vania Harista, Senior Brand Manager of Hers Protex, revealed that Hers Protex not only offers high-quality sanitary products for Indonesian women but is also actively involved in educating about the importance of menstrual hygiene management.

Vania also mentioned some tips for maintaining cleanliness during menstruation, such as washing hands before and after changing pads, changing pads every 4-6 hours to prevent infection, keeping the genital area dry and clean, and choosing high-quality and safe pads with natural antibacterial properties.
The Hers For Her campaign is part of a collaboration with YPII, which has been actively working in the field of women's rights equality to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene.
