JAKARTA, The Shiro Company — The shares of PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) have once again attracted market attention after reports emerged that the Danareka Investment Management (BPI) is exploring investment opportunities in the merger entity between GOTO and Grab.
This issue is considered to be a positive sentiment that strengthens GOTO's forward-looking prospects.
<failed> Bloomberg News On June 6, 2025, it was mentioned that Danantara is in the early stages of discussions to acquire a minority stake in the joint entity of GOTO and Grab, the technology giants from Singapore.
If implemented, this step is considered a signal of government institution trust in GOTO's business direction.
Associate Director of Research and Investment at Pilarmas Investindo Sekuritas, Maximilianus Nico Demus, views this news as an important milestone. According to him, the prospects for GOTO should not be judged solely based on current conditions, but also on the long-term potential of the company.
"The position of GOTO is not evaluated at this moment, but in the future. GOTO is too big to fail, so it's impossible to leave it as is," he said, as quoted from Kontan .
Nico also added that GOTO has become an integral part of the social ecosystem that creates dependence in daily life.
"If the investment from Danantara truly occurs, its value will only be seen in the years to come," he said.
J.P. Morgan's Tim raised this issue in a research note dated June 10, 2025. They believe that the rumors involving Danantara bring two important indications for investors.
First, this indicates a positive signal from the government, as an indirect approval of the GOTO and Grab merger plan. Second, Danantara's participation is seen as opening up opportunities for a more integrated strategic policy direction aligned with national interests.
Against this sentiment, JP Morgan still maintains an overweight recommendation for GOTO shares, with a target price at IDR 95 per share. Meanwhile, GOTO shares closed at IDR 65 per share on Tuesday's (17/6/2025) trading.
With the potential entry of institutional investors like Danareksa, GOTO's shares are considered to have appreciation potential, especially if the merger with Grab actually happens and creates a stronger business scale in Southeast Asia.
