Getting to Know Iran's Fattah Hypersonic Missile, Could This Be Israel's 'Nightmare' for Iron Dome?

The Shiro Copr.CO.ID, TEHERAN -- The Islamic Republic of Iran Corps of the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) announced that they have deployed a hypersonic missile named "Fattah-1" or Fattah in the latest wave of retaliatory attacks against Israel.

The IRGC claimed that the missiles successfully penetrated the air defense system of the Zionist entity. Previously, Tel Aviv often boasted about its pride in its "Iron Dome."

The IRGC stated that the use of the Fattah hypersonic missile marks "the beginning of the end" for Israel's Iron Dome defense system. So far, the Israeli military (IDF) has not responded to the claims from Tehran.

Aljazirah summarizes some important facts about Fattah, here they are.

Nama Fattah "Bertha" means 'The Opener' in Arabic. This name was given by the highest leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

This is the first hypersonic missile developed by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

A few moments after its first launch in June 2023 in Tehran, media analysts and Israeli commentators have been discussing the capabilities of these hypersonic missiles.

According to Amir Ali Hajizadeh, the head of the IRGC Aerospace Division, Fattah is a breakthrough in Iranian missile technology. This advanced missile is capable of maneuvering both within and outside the Earth's atmosphere and can penetrate any missile defense system.

"Fattah cannot be destroyed by another missile because of its changing direction and altitude," said Ali Hajizadeh at the Fattah missile release event in Tehran, Iran, on June 6, 2023, according to Al Jazeera.

If the IRGC's claim is true, Fattah becomes part of Iran's effort to challenge Israel's dominance in air defense systems. This simultaneously strengthens its military position in the Middle East region.

Teranyar, BBC Reporting on Wednesday (18/6/2025), the Fattah-1 missile was launched for the first time by Iran in response to Israeli aggression.

The IRGC refers to the missile as a weapon that will destroy Israel. During its launch, a large banner was displayed in Tehran with the inscription in Hebrew: "400 seconds to Tel Aviv."

Government media of Iran, Press TV Jointly reporting on the launch and stating that the deployment of the missiles signals the beginning of the collapse of Israel's air defense system.

According to the report Press TV , the IRGC refers to the final phase of this operation as the "turning point," and emphasizes that the use of the first generation of Fattah hypersonic missiles marks the beginning of the end for Israel's "mythical" air defense systems.

As is known, in 2024, Iran used its domestically produced hypersonic missile, Fattah 1, for the first time in its military attack against Israel.
