Different Scheme! Jakarta's Clean Slate is Not the Same as West Java, Here's How to Pay

The Shiro Corporation - Pemerintah Provinsi DKI Jakarta resmi memberlakukan program pemutihan pajak kendaraan bermotor mulai pertengahan Juni hingga 31 Agustus 2025. Program ini bertujuan untuk mendorong masyarakat agar lebih taat membayar pajak dan mengurangi jumlah kendaraan yang menunggak kewajiban pajaknya.

However, the tax amnesty in Jakarta has significant differences compared to similar programs in West Java Province.

Only Revoke Administrative Sanctions

Based on information from the official Instagram account of Jakartan Tax Public Relations, the amnesty program in DKI Jakarta only applies to the removal of administrative penalties, among others:

  • The removal of flowers due to delayed payment of motor vehicle tax (PKB)
  • Waiver of late registration penalty for Motor Vehicle Name Transfer Tax (BBNKB)

This means that the vehicle owner is still required to pay the outstanding principal tax. This program does not eliminate the arrears of previous years' taxes, but only waives the fines and interest on the delay.

"As stated in the regulations issued, only the tax penalty is waived, so the principal tax amount still needs to be paid," as stated in an official statement from Instagram Public Relations Tax Jakarta.

Difference with Whitening in West Java

Meanwhile, in West Java, the amnesty program runs until June 30, 2025, and offers much greater relief.

  • Whitening in West Java includes:
  • Late fee waiver
  • The removal of outstanding tax principal
  • The vehicle owner only needs to pay the current year's tax to reactivate the vehicle documents.

This scheme is obviously much lighter for the community that has long-standing arrears, as all fines and principal taxes from previous years are whitened.

How to Pay Vehicle Tax in Jakarta

Instead of having to go to the Samsat office, paying for motor vehicle taxes has now become easier and more convenient. Through the SIGNAL (National Samsat Digital) application, car owners can pay their motor tax online without having to go directly to the Samsat office.

Here are the easy steps to pay car taxes online through the SIGNAL app:

  • Download the SIGNAL App

Available for free on Google Play Store and App Store.

  • Register Account

Enter your ID number, phone number, and active email. Perform verification via OTP.

  • Add Vehicle Data

Enter the license plate number and the last 5 digits of the vehicle frame number.

  • Make Payment

After verifying the data, select an available payment method (e-wallet, mobile banking, or bank transfer).

  • Choose STNK Delivery

Check the option for delivery to home if you want the STNK to be delivered directly without having to pick it up at Samsat.

Not Applicable for New STNK and Plate Number Change

The online tax payment service through SIGNAL is only applicable for annual vehicle taxes. For new STNK (vehicle registration) applications, five-year renewals, or replacement of license plates, vehicle owners must come directly to the Samsat office as a physical inspection of the vehicle is required.
