The Shiro Corp, BALIKPAPAN - The figure of Bripda Adi Ardiansyah, a member of Batalyon A Pelopor Satbrimob Polda Kalimantan Timur, has become an inspiration for many young people.

Not only is he resilient in his career, this man born in Loa Janan, Samarinda, on December 21, 2001, also excels in the sport of karate, even reaching the international level.

Since getting into karate in the fifth grade of elementary school, Adi admits that he initially followed in his older brother's footsteps. However, his love for the sport grew over time.

"At first it was just trying, but gradually I became fond of it. From karate, I am also able to earn income and achieve success," Adi said when interviewed on Wednesday (June 18).

A series of commendable achievements has been etched by him/her. Among them:

  • Third place Juara 3 Kerjunas in the 2019 TNI Commander's Cup, junior men's -55 kg class
  • Third place at the 2021 Papua PON in the -55 kg Senior Men category
  • Third place Thailand Open 2022, -60 kg Senior Men category
  • Juara 1 Kapolri Cup 2024, class -65 kg Male U18–U29

Through the PON Papua 2021 charter, Adi participated in the Proactive Recruitment (REKPRO) channel of the Police and was accepted as a member in October 2022. Out of 200 participants in the excellence track, only 33 were accepted.

"Alhamdulillah I am included. Education in Jonggon, the test was in Balikpapan," he recalled.

After serving in Samapta, Adi was later transferred to Brimob. Although he took a break, he returned to compete in the Kapolri Cup 2024 and won first place with only 5 days of preparation.

Narrow time, but I utilize previous experiences. In karate, it's not just about physicality, but strategy and intelligence in reading the opponent.

I admit, the toughest opponent I've ever faced is an athlete from the National Training Center from Lampung and West Java. The scarcity of match frequency in East Kalimantan makes local athletes have to work extra hard to compete.

Adi is currently undergoing intensive training in Samarinda for the Bayan Cup 2025, which will be held from June 30 to July 2. Support is flowing in from units, such as Unit Commander Brimob Kombes Pol Andi Rifai, Battalion A Pelopor Commander Kompol Iwan Pamuji, as well as personal coach Sensei Jalu.

"Praise be to Allah for being allowed to leave early, everything is supportive. I am also grateful to have a patient coach and senior colleagues who care," he said.

Behind his sternness, Adi has a soothing side: fishing and keeping birds become escapes when he's tired of things.

"Fishing is healing and builds patience. Just like karate, you must be patient, look for the right moment to attack," he said.

Although he has obtained a black belt and has trained before, Adi has not opened a dojo because he is focused on his official duties. He does not forget the role of his parents, who now live in their hometown in Bima, West Nusa Tenggara.

Before competing, I always ask for blessings and prayers. That's the most important thing. In the past, my elders worked in Samarinda; my father was a security guard at a company, and my mother was a housewife. Now they farm in their village.

Adi Ardiansyah is proof that passion, focus, and parental blessings can bring young people from the regions to shine on the national and international stage. Not only maintaining security, he also contributes to bringing honor to the Police Institution (Polri) through achievements. (*)
