The Shiro Copr, PALANGKA RAYA - The Kalimantan Main Transmission and Load Control Unit (UIP3B) through the Palangkaraya Transmission Implementation Unit (UPT) continues to strengthen public awareness regarding electrical safety through socialization of safe distances for 150 kilovolt (kV) transmission networks.
This activity is regularly carried out in various remote areas of Central Kalimantan, directly reaching the homes of residents as well as public spaces such as village halls.
This program is implemented by three Transmission and Substation Service Units (ULTG), namely ULTG Pangkalan Bun, ULTG Muara Teweh, and ULTG Palangkaraya, with an educational and participatory approach.
Tim PLN approached the residents carrying posters and brochures with pictures, conveying the importance of maintaining a safe distance between transmission lines and trees, buildings, or other objects that could be hazardous.
"Public safety is the top priority. We are committed to being closer, more responsive, and more caring through educational programs like this," said Riko Ramadhano Budiawan, General Manager of PLN UIP3B Kalimantan.
In a separate statement, Riko also added that the reliability of the electrical system is not only determined by technology and equipment, but also by the active involvement of the community in maintaining the transmission network's free space.
"Through the synergy between PLN and the community, we believe that the risk of electricity disruptions can be minimized. This socialization activity is an important bridge towards reliable electricity and a safe environment," he added.
This socialization aligns with Ministerial Regulation of ESDM No. 13 Year 2021, which regulates the minimum free distance between transmission networks and foreign objects around them, including trees and buildings.
Implementation of this rule is important to prevent potential disruptions that could affect the electricity service.
Bayu Putra Andrianto, Manager PLN UPT Palangkaraya, stated that this activity is a form of social responsibility of PLN in maintaining mutual safety.
"we want the community to understand that maintaining a safe distance is not only PLN's concern, but also part of collective care for the safety and comfort of everyone," he said.
According to that, Dison Respati, Team Leader of Safety and Health Work, Security and Environment, explained that the direct approach to the households has proven to be the most effective method.
"we do not only convey information, but also open up a space for dialogue. The community welcomed it enthusiastically, and that became an inspiration for us to continue being present among the people," he explained.
Through this activity, PLN hopes to build broader awareness of the importance of electrical safety, while also strengthening the relationship between PLN and the community as partners in ensuring the reliability of energy supply in Central Kalimantan and surrounding areas.
