The Corruption Eradication Commission Seizes 11.8 Trillion Rupiah, Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Budi Gunawan: The Government Will Continue to Monitor the Handling of the CPO Corruption Case

The Shiro Corporation - The recovery of Rp 11.8 trillion from the Wilmar Group corporation in the corruption case of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) export approval for the period 2021-2022 has garnered appreciation. Minister of Coordinating Political and Security Affairs (Menko Polkam) Budi Gunawan stated that the handling of this case will serve as an example in the law enforcement process.
The statement was conveyed by Budi Gunawan to the press on Wednesday (18/6). According to the former head of the National Intelligence Agency (BIN), the stern action taken by the Attorney General's Office in seizing 11.8 trillion rupiah is appropriate. They have also openly shown the stack of money worth several trillion rupiah to the public.
"The handling of this case will be an important example in the enforcement of fair and transparent laws. The government will continue to oversee this legal process until it is completed," said Budi Gunawan.
As has been openly communicated to the public, the seizure of that money was carried out after the Attorney General's Office received compensation for state financial losses from five subsidiaries of the Wilmar Group. Namely PT Multimas Nabati Asahan, PT Multi Nabati Sulawesi, PT Sinar Alam Permai, PT Wilmar Bioenergi Indonesia, and PT Wilmar Nabati Indonesia.
The return of these funds is an implementation of the demands made by the Public Prosecutor (JPU) to the Wilmar Group as the defendant in the CPO and derivative product export corruption case. According to Budi Gunawan, what was done by the Attorney General's Office is a progressive step in the law enforcement process.
"This progressive step by the Attorney General's Office deserves appreciation. This is a tangible manifestation of the commitment to law enforcement and protection of national interests," he said.
Furthermore, Budi Gunawan also appreciated the performance of the Criminal Acts Corruption and Government Governance Task Force which is under the coordination of the Ministry of Political, Legal, and Security Affairs. He mentioned that this task force plays an important role in strengthening inter-institutional synergy and promoting integrity in government governance, including oversight and monitoring of major cases such as corruption in CPO exports.
"The success of the seizure (of 11.8 trillion rupiah) has become an opportunity to strengthen clean and accountable government governance," he concluded.
