Governor of North Sumatra Bobby Nasution Asks His People to Accept the Decision on 4 Islands: Aceh Is Our Neighbor, Do Not Be Easily Provoked

The Shiro Corporation - The Governor of North Sumatra (Sumut), Bobby Nasution, reminded the people of Sumut to be able to accept the government's decision regarding the determination of four islands, which are now included in the administrative region of Aceh Province. This decision was made after President Prabowo Subianto held a limited meeting (ratas) at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday (6/17).
The four islands that were in conflict are Pulau Lipan, Pulau Panjang, Pulau Mangkir Gadang, and Pulau Mangkir Ketek.
"So I ask permission from the people of North Sumatra as well, of course, Aceh is a neighboring region to us, don't want to be incited, don't want to be carried away by the fried foods," said Bobby at the Presidential Complex in Jakarta.
Bobby emphasized that this agreement is not just about Aceh and North Sumatra, but concerns the nation and state of Indonesia. Therefore, Bobby reminded his constituents to resolve the controversy over ownership of the four islands.
"Therefore, regardless of the conditions today, for the entire people of North Sumatra, if there are reports made to the people of Aceh or similar, I, as the Governor of North Sumatra, declare that please stop it, because the agreement today is not only between Aceh and North Sumatra but for our nation and country," said Bobby.
In the agreement, Bobby continued, he along with Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf had signed the boundaries of the area between Aceh and North Sumatra. According to him, these boundaries have been in place since 1992.
Together, we already know that the four islands mentioned yesterday are part of North Sumatra Province according to history and records. As stated by the Minister of Home Affairs earlier, starting from the Topat map base used in 1978, these four islands fall under the jurisdiction of Aceh," he asserted firmly.
Previously, the Government has clearly decided that the four disputed islands, namely Pulau Panjang, Pulau Lipan, Pulau Mangkir Gadang, and Pulau Mangkir Ketek, belong to the province of Aceh.
This decision was conveyed by State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi, after holding a limited meeting with President Prabowo Subianto regarding the controversy of four islands in dispute between Aceh and North Sumatra (Sumut).
The decision was also conveyed in front of Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf and North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution, as well as Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian at the Presidential Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday (6/17).
"President Father has decided that the Government is based on the fundamentals of documents owned by the Government, has made a decision that the four islands, namely Pulau Panjang, Pulau Lipan, Pulau Mangkir Gadang, and Pulau Mangkir Ketek, administratively according to the documents owned by the Government fall under the administrative region of Aceh Province," said Prasetyo Hadi in a press conference.
Prasetyo explained that the decision was made after holding a limited meeting (ratas) to address the controversy over the ownership of four islands. During the meeting, documents regarding the boundaries were reviewed and reconsidered.
"The documents from Aceh Province, then there are documents owned by Setneg, and there are also documents owned by the Ministry of Internal Affairs," Prasetyo said.
Prasetyo hopes this decision can put an end to the debate regarding ownership of the four islands. Because recently, ownership of the four islands has attracted public attention.
"We hope this will put an end to the dynamics developing in society," he concluded.
