Reading 1: 2 Cor. 11: 1-11
Gospel: Mat. 6:7-15
Our Father in Heaven
Beloved sister in Christ
Peace be upon us all. The Lord's Prayer is a special prayer for Christians, directly taught by Jesus Himself to His disciples and to us as well. This prayer makes us children who always hope in God as our Father.
Beloved sister in Christ
On this day, we are invited to reflect on prayer and humility in service. The theme "Our Father in Heaven" encourages us to understand how we should pray and how we can emulate Christ in our service to others.
The readings we reflect on from 2 Corinthians 11:1-11, where Paul reveals his concern for the church in Corinth, which may have been influenced by false teachers. He feels a godly jealousy over them, as he has betrothed them to Christ to present them as a pure virgin to Him.
Paulus does not seek material gain from them, but only wants to serve them sincerely. This shows Paul's love and sacrifice in maintaining the faith of the congregation. Meanwhile, in the Gospel of Matthew 6:7-15, Jesus teaches His disciples how they should pray.
I warn them not to be verbose like those who do not know God, who think that their prayers will be answered because of the many words. Instead, Jesus gives an example of a simple yet profound prayer, which is the Lord's Prayer.
This prayer encompasses a request for the glory of God, the coming of His kingdom, the provision of daily needs, forgiveness of sins, and protection from temptation. Jesus emphasizes the importance of forgiveness in the prayer.
I say that if we forgive others, our Father in heaven will also forgive us. However, if we do not forgive others, our Father will not forgive our sins either. This shows that forgiveness is an integral part of our relationship with God and one another.
Reflection on this contemplation is about Sincerity in Service: Are we serving sincerely, without seeking personal gain?
How can we emulate Paul's love and sacrifice in our service? Meaningful Prayer: Are we praying sincerely, seeking the presence of God, or are we just uttering meaningless words?
How can we live out the Lord's Prayer in our daily lives? Forgiveness: Are we willing to forgive those who have hurt us? How can we practice forgiveness in our relationships with others?
Beloved sister in Christ
Message for us, first: let us pray that we be given wisdom to serve with sincerity and pray earnestly. Second, may we always remember the importance of forgiveness and strive to live in peace with everyone. Third, in this way, we can become living witnesses to the love and truth of Christ in this world. (*)
